Did you `stock up` on diapers? Added: 967 days ago. Added by: kplum Section: General. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
I have read that you should stock up on diapers throughout your pregnancy. So, did you buy diapers when they were on sale and have coupons for them? And if so, how many of each size do you typically need?

toys r us let me exchange them there for store credit with the recipt. i got alot of diapers at my baby shower all different brands, i didnt stock up, bc i could always find coupons when i needed them. plus with growing baby, who knows if they will fit in the same size by the time you get to the pack. plus we had a small apartment at the time. limited space =) usually 1-2 large packages of diapers on hand unless i noticed baby outgrowing them then i would wait it out and see if i needed to go up a size. im very cheap, i don tlike to throw money out the window.
the cheap brand diapers gave my daughter a rash, so i didnt use those (someone gave them to me) huggies i didnt like, so i stuck with the pampers bc they didnt give her any rashes and i found the swaddlers better for her. sometimes my mother would buy them for me at the price club or sams club. was a little cheaper that way

I disagree with stocking up! There is no way to know which brand you will need and how many packs of each size you will need. Stores will not always let you return/exchange! I received some that I know came from certain stores (certain size packs/boxes are sold only at certain stores) and the stores will NOT take them back. I say buy a pack of newborns and a pack of 1's and do not open them. By the time you come home from the hospital you will know which pack to open and can take back the newborns if you don't need them. My experience: My first baby - Huggies leaked every time, she wore size 1 the day she was born and quickly moved into size 2. My second baby - allergic to Pampers, wore newborn for several months and slowly went through each size. My third baby - I didn't like how the Pampers were working for him, he wore newborns for several months, he is 8 months old and just now out growing size 1-2 ! The last thing a mom needs is packs and packs of diapers taking up precious space especially when they may not be needed for a while - or never used at all!

I'm 17 weeks and at about 12 weeks we started buying bits and pieces if they were on sale. We have a few packs of various brands in newborn size up to 13lbs, and we'll probably get a few in the next size up also. We've bought things like wipes, lotions, creams etc too. Once I'm closer to delivering, we'll pick up a few cans of formula, just in case I can't bf for some reason and as the baby gets older, we'll pick up some jars of food too. It pays to be prepared, but do bear in mind that your baby could be allergic to certain products, so don't spend too much on any one thing (like buying all one brand of diapers in every size!)

Sams is good for saving! Definitely buy in bulk. Don't buy the little packs in the stores...total rip off. meecob is right too...buy the mega box of wipes. You'll fly through them! I also use Pampers Sensitive. I tried other cheaper ones and they wore my little guys butt raw. You can also check out diapers.com. I buy all my diapers from there in bulk since I dont live near a Sams. It saves me alot and it's free shipping. I have a code you can use to get $10 off your first order if you want. Leave me a message if you want it!

You should start stocking up on wipes :) It's crazy how many get used! May I suggest the Pampers Sensitive, they are 100% cotton for Baby's tender bottom - and buy in bulk; it's cheaper. Congrats!!

i would buy diapers when i found them on sale.....i didnt bother with size zero diapers, because size one will fit most babies. i think i bought 2 packs of size one and one package of size 2 so far anyway

i didnt stock up but what i did was at my baby shower, asked guests to bring a bag of diapers, any size, for a chance to win a prize. I received diapers for many months and in a range of sizes so i could grab them as my baby grew. but let me say it does help so much to have them around so i would say stock up or do the shower thing. its hard to say how many of each size as our babies all grow at a different rate. hope that helped and good luck :-)

I would suggest not to buy to many packs of newborns and I wouldn't go hog wild on size ones either. Maybe 2 packs of each size, could come in pretty handy. Also, be leary on what brands you buy - you just never know if your LO will be sensitive to them or not. =)

I have started stocking up this time around. I watch for sales and use coupons. I have only bought two bags, one of newborns and one size 1, but plan on buying probably 2 more packs of 1's and then on to 2's. My kids have always stayed in sizes 2 and 3 the longest, so those are the ones that I will buy the most of.
