how do you feel about bumpers? are they really as dangerous as everyone says? what if you have a baby who has outgrown the bassinet and needs a crib but gets his legs caught between the bars? are they ok then?

preggyvegan17 - 963 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Ok, nobody get offended, but I'm going against the mass opinion- I don't use them partly because of suffocation, but mainly because they suspect the main cause of SIDS has to do with improper air circulation (too much carbon dioxide) and it seems like having bumpers will keep stale air inside the crib. My LO is a mover, and he does get his arms stuck in the bars sometimes, but never anything serious, and he forgets about it and goes back to sleep pretty quickly. But I do agree that most of us probably had them in our cribs as babies, and we all turned out ok. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose :)

I have a screen monitor so as soon as I hear him even move...I wake up and see what he's doing. I don't think their dangerous but thats just my opinion!

krystiannoah - 964 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i think alot of the stuff that they say isnt safe for babies is ridiculous to be honest...i know they're trying to be safe and all but i think if a baby can move around and stuff, then it's smart enough to know to move its head if it cant breathe.......i completely agree with mother649808

xolblondieox - 964 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I use them with my twins. I have since day one. Initially they were slept in wedges in their cribs so that they could not scoot up toward the bumpers. But at 3 months of age they were able to roll over and army crawl so I let them have at it. The bumpers keep their limbs in and sometimes they even cuddle the top of their heads up to them, must feel good. I just use regular old padded bumpers and I see many more benefits than risks, just be smart about it. I mean they have been around for a very long time. LOL I watch I Love Lucy re-runs and they're in little Ricky's crib in every scene!

LizetteCheree - 964 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Hun ive heard u get breatheable cot bumpers.Im from sa so i cant direct u were u will get them.

abbyquiet - 964 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i use it, and i wouldn't consider not using it.

RobinG - 964 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Depends on who you ask, all my babies had them and I'd never consider not using one. Take them out when they are able to attempt climinb out ~

juels101 - 964 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I've used them for both of my babies and they are awesome. At first the baby can't scoot around the crib so they are safe at first, put on properly. My daughter is now moving around her crib like crazy and if I didn't have them she would have bruises all over her head from bumping into the side of it. I keep the bottom of them below the mattress so they can't get underneath and they are very well tied on.

STCT - 964 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I've been using them since I put my daughter in her crib around 3.5-4 months old.

wwatters18 - 965 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I can understand why a newborn shouldn't have them. but i think by the time they can do 360's in the crib and are strong enough to move their heads then bumpers are a good thing. my daughter is always pushing her head to the top of the crib and the bumper serves its purpose well for her!

jaydsmom - 965 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My dr told me as a dr she is to say no bumpers, but as a mother, she used them with her baby and will with the one she is pregnant with once they are old enough to move around the crib.

mommy-at-home - 965 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) The current position of my bumper pads (as I can't decide how I want to use them) is hanging on the outside of the crib. They still keep my baby's arms and legs inside, but I don't have to worry about him trying to breathe.

megandgrace - 965 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I put them in and they are still in there now at 17 months. The way that she sleeps and moves around in her sleep she would have a lot more bumps and bruise from the bars if there were no bumper pads. I wouldn't put fluffy or really cushy ones in there with an infant but the ones that are just thin foam are fine. Once the baby is old enough to move or roll around they are old even to be able to move their heads to breathe.

tylersmommy54 - 965 days ago it just really scares me that he is getting his legs caught between the bars. and i never know what to listen to anymore, there is always so much conflicting information.

mother649808 - 965 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I used bumpers with my first 2 kids and I'm using them now for my twins! I've never had a problem with them. I think that all the hype about about things with babies in the recent years has just gotten ridiculous!
