LizetteCheree - 961 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I was induced at 38 weeks 2 days coz of my pelvis being too small and severe backache and it wasnt too bad,you can go read my birth story.I was admitted at 7am,sleep till 8am and doc came in and put cervidal in twice, half hour later he broke my water, which did not hurt but felt akward, then at 9am he put the oxytocin drip in,i was fine till i hit 6cm dialated then it realy started to hurt,i had contractions back to back, only had 5 seconds gap to catch my breath, but the great thing was i progressed quickly,Andriette was born at 15:14pm.Good thing they induced me then coz she just fitted thru my pelvis, her poor head was pretty cone shaped.BUT to add i did not have any form of pain relief, wanted it while in labour but at my hospital you have to arrange it before hand.I would say wait it out till 40 weeks and if then nothing happens then go to be induced BUT get that epidural(nb.u can only get the epi when you hit 4cm dialated,so be prepared:-))

nutnut - 961 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i was due july 4th, but baby didnt want to come! so i was induced. she was born july 10th. it was a long labor. it was painful for me, but this isnt the case with most women. it had a lot to do with i was in labor, but i kept stalling, so since i was scheduled to be induced the next am anyway, they decided to keep me there and start a little early (4am) i had been in the er since 11pm. i had been up since 530am that day, and had not eaten anything since 6pm that night.so i was extremely tired, starving, and had no energy. i wouldnt want to do it again. breaking my water hurt me alot. some women say it doesnt hurt but i had no pain meds at this time, and i was in the middle of a huge contraction when my dr. did it. having my water broken hurt more than giving birth i swear! the epidural didnt work on one half of my body so like i felt everything on my right side, but my left side was completly dead i couldnt move my leg. or anything. so i had a hard time with pushing and what not. next time, i will tell the dr. they are not inducing me until i am 10+days over due. i dont really know if i had the option of going home or being induced, they just kind of told me this was what they were going to do. next time i need to have the presence of mind to ask before i let them do. but i was scared, first baby, i didnt really know what to expect. but, generally women dont have horror stories. its just depends on your body. personally i think contractions are less "controllable" when they give you pitocin. at least thats how i felt. good luck. just remember its different for everyone, so try not to worry. get alot of sleep the night before and make sure you eat and drink enough before the cut off time. you need energy to push and if youre already exhausted it will make things more difficult.

I had a great experience both times. If you have the drip done right away it can be overwhelming, but there is a gel, or a piece of material with the gel on it (kind of like a tampon) that is very very gradual and very like a regular labor. But I also would'nt worry about being late, they usually wait 10 days at the earliest and most go into labor themselves before then. Your due date is usually either a week earlier or a week later then the one given by your last perid. Afteral how do they know when you got pregnant from your last period!! Anyways, both experiences were fine, nice slow, easy to handle beginning, and... well the end hurts induced or not heh.

JaxMomma - 962 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I was induced with my 2nd Child, and I wish I hadn't done it...I think I was seeking the instant gratification. I didn't progress well, and was going to need a C-Section. I was very upset by this, and in the 11th hour, I prayed like mad, called my family and friends and had them pray like mad. I went from a 4 to a nine in 45 minutes avoiding C-section by a hair. I know sometimes it is necessary, but I would consider how you will feel if your body doesn't cooperate when they induce you. I am waiting for my body to be ready this next time and be more patient. I know it is hard to wait for such and awesome event. You're on the right track with the praying, and remember if it doesn't happen this week it doesn't mean God didn't answer your prayers, it means God said no.

tamm - 962 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my induction wasn't bad at all; they put a plastic bulb/ balloon in my cervix because i was only a "1". that didn't involve any drugs, but somehow it triggers the contractions. they werent painful, but they made me so uncomfortable that night i wanted to cry, it was so hard to lay in that bed with the iv and monitors hooked up to me, so i finally asked the nurse for some relief, i didnt know they were contractions, she told me that's probably why i was so uncomfortable. but they didn't feel like i expected them to feel, thought they would be sharp and painful, but really it was just like body aches, nothing that bad to be worried about-- it wasn't the end of the world-- they gave me some sort of narcotic in my IV to make me comfortable; it put me to sleep for a few hours and was such a great relief. It was supposed to only last 2 hours but i think it kept me feeling pleasant for much longer. i was dialated to a six overnight, and it was annoying to have to pee with the bulb in place-- it made me bleed a bit when the plug had fallen out the next morning. and it was annoying to have to call the nurse to unhook all the monitor stuff to go to the bathroom. I went to the delivery room at 6am and was induced all day-- nothing extremely painful, i think the drug from the night before made me comfortable for a long time, i took a lot of naps; i felt a little uncomfortable hours later and asked for the epidural, but it was more in anticipation of pain than out of pain. i don't think i really felt the contractions very much, they were weak feeling. they kept telling me from the monitor that i was having really strong contractions, i was like, am i? but then after the epidural i couldnt feel anything, and it came time to push, around 5pm, i couldn't feel "pressure" or anything, but i tried to push anyway. doctor finally concluded that baby was sunnyside up and his arm was in the way. she couldnt get him in the right position, and since they'd broken the water there was problems with baby's heartbeat, so i ended up in an emergency c-section! i had never even suspected i'd b having a csection, i was so unprepared for that, couldnt believe i'd gone all the way through all that for nothing! so be prepared for that-- all went well otherwise, and it was easy to rush into the csection because i already had the epidural hooked up (that didn't hurt at all either, just felt weird for a few seconds). so weirdly, i did not really have much pain through the whole induction process-- i've had worse menstral cramps! the pain came after from the incision, and that was only bad when i moved around-- that sucked. So good luck and be happy-- no sense in worrying when you will most likely be just fine :-)

JENNIFERANN333 - 962 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I am with ya sweetie!! I feel your pain... Di you ask your doctor to strip your membranes yet? I would do that and try to see if that works before I went and got induced... Potosin is no joke.. that crap will make you have the worst contractions that dont EVER let up. With my 1st I got induced on my due date and I was at a 2 forever and they upped my potosin and 36 hours later I was a 4 and was able to get an epidural.. Yeah 36 hours later and I have that stupid potosin to thank for it... It speeds up labor but it doesnt always make you dialate so you may end up in c section anyways because sometimes the baby cant handle the stress... I dont wanna scre you hun.. Why dont you google potosin and what alot of people say about getting it.. It may make you think about trying to wait... If your doctor will stripp your membranes that can make you go on your own.. Keep me posted hun... Jen

LiveLoveLaugh - 962 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Being induced SUCKS! The contractions come faster, not giving you time to have a shit, shave or haircut. Giving birth naturally allows your contractions to gradually come. I was induced and my contractions came so hard and fast, it was a shock to my body.

happyforest - 962 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) you can read my birth story on my page. i was induced, it wasnt fun, but it was worth it in the and and im glad i let them go ahead and induce bc my baby was over 9 lbs. i would much rather go natural...but you gotta do what you gotta do. good luck!! and im sure its different for everyone, lots of women say induction was horrible, but im sure there are some lucky women who take it just fine! :)
