I think my babys belly button is infected? new born 16 days old

I was changing her bum and noticed her diaper had yellow all around her belly button and the area on the diaper on the belly button area and its a lil red too any idea what too do and if I should take her in? it fell off when she was 3 days old which the doctor said is normal and so did the nurse but I am a lil worried, Im worried cause yellow usaully means infection...

1sttimemum2twins - 960 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would have it looked at. Even just a little redness can mean infection, thats how one of my boys was at about 2 weeks old. He needed oral antibiotics

juels101 - 961 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) That happened with my last baby, and I bought some rubbing alchohol, it works to dry it up and call off sooner, or if it has fallen off it helps dry the last of the ickys. Just using a qtip with some of the rubbing alchohol on it helps you get into the cracks.

mamalvs4 - 961 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) the same happened to my sons, i cleaned it at every diaper change with a little sailne nose spray( doctor's orders)its basically just sterile water, and put vasiline on it to prevent it from rubbing and it cleared up in a few days

vickiessecret - 961 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My daughters got infected while it was still attached, hers didn't fall off until she was almost a month and I cleaned it at every diaper change... it had some yellowish discharge and it smelled really bad. I'd definetly call her doctor on that... Good Luck :)

mother649808 - 961 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Yes it probably is infected. My baby did that and he was still in the nicu at the time. The just put some triple anibiotic ointment on it. Seemed to do the trick within a few days!
