I do not know what to do. My son has a poop everyday- small-med size, but they are more hard than soft, and he really grunts to push one out. He is a formula fed baby, and takes rice cereal every morning. I feel bad for him. Is there anything I can do for him??

jensoon2bmomof3 - 960 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My 3 year old had a lot of trouble with that when he was younger. One thing that I have found that works that wasn't recommended already is pear juice. You can find it in the baby aisle. Will help make it softer, and help him go. My son used to go days without going...I felt so sorry for the little guy...

MoniqueC - 961 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) The rice might be doing it along with the formula. Most baby formula also has iron in it which also causes constipation. This used to happen a lot with my kids and the doc suggested putting a table spoon of Kayro Syrup in the formula. Not all the time just every other bottle and only for a few days or until he begins to poop normally.

happyforest - 961 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) its probably the rice. rice tends to constipate babies (rice is recommended when baby has diahhrea) we feed my son oatmeal cereal instead and its been a lot better. i mix half jar of baby food fruit in the oatmeal (with formula) and he loves it!!

bumbleguys - 961 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My son was like that until I switched him over to oatmeal. Also if he doesn't poop that day or the next, I mix pureed prunes into his oatmeal.

Smarie79 - 961 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Could be the cereal,try oatmeal instead. Thats what I did mixed with juice. My second child had that problem and doctor said to put a little kayro syrup mixed with water if she is having trouble. Worked every time.

krystiannoah - 961 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my son is the same way, he grunts for quite some time when he goes...my doc said it isnt really a problem because he is pooping...she told me i could give him some prune juice if he gets so constipated that he doesnt go at all...but if he's pooping then he's fine...my sons is on the harder side too, and is also formula fed, i guess its just the formula. hope this helps...=]
