Anyone breastfeeding AND supplementing formula now? I am thinking of adding a little formula to Isaac`s diet but not sure how to go about it. I would like to continue breastfeeding him part-time but I am really getting tired of pumping. Also, I wonder if he had a formula bottle at bedtime (with daddy since I work evenings) if he would sleep the night (he still gets up at least once to nurse).

It definitely doesn't keep her fuller longer :) As for adding formula, just start giving the bottle of formula and skipping the nursing for that feed, starting with the bedtime feed with daddy is a good way.

You can spoon feed some cereal an hour or so before bed. Also check your bedtime. My kids at 6 months took a early evening nap then down for the night at 10ish slept til 5. If I put them down at 7-8 they were up at 2. They went down at 8-9 ish closer to 8-9 months.

RobinG - 960 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Cereal isnt a good idea and doesnt always work but yes def formula may help. Formula is known to hold babies longer then breast milk. The only concern you may have is breast milk is much sweeter then formula so mixing 50/50 is recommended. While some are lucky to have a night sleeper many babies will not sleep the night til 5-8 months or later so dont get disappointed if it doesnt work. You may find the formula just makes him go an added hour between feeds :)
