help my 6week old poop

Hiya more 6 week old daughter only poops every 2-3 days. She is formula fed and strains, grunts and cries when trying to poop. Her poop was soft till yesterday when it was more firm. Suggestions please.

nicnmicsmom - 959 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I think I would first make sure you're not mixing her formula too thick(If you're mixing it). Maybe add a little water to it. I think it's more common for babies to have this problem when they're formula fed. This may get a lot of flack...but when it happened to my son years ago, I used a rectal thermometer with a little vaseline jelly on it to sort of....get things going. Saying it, it sounds bad..but it worked and I believe the doctor told me to do that....

tylersmommy54 - 959 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my son was the same way up until about 2mos old. i was told it was ok so i didn't do anything about it. now at almost 4 mos he goes somtimes 3 times a day lol but remember for quite a while i was so worried then i just kinda figured that was him.

mardysbaby - 959 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Put 1 teapsoon of Karo syrup in her next bottle. That should loosen things up. Babies that are formula fed are more often constipated. Good luck

mariettap - 959 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) The nurse at your pediatrician's office will spend time with you over the phone on this kind of Q. I've heard of friends using fruit juices, but I wouldn't know how much/how concentrated, etc, to suggest.

corrina1987 - 959 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my daughter had problem as she wouldnt drink boiled water she hated it so it made her constapated i was told to try very weak orange juice with water or brown sugar water and i did the oj with water and then she was fine but if in doubt ask the doctor what you can do for her hope this helped
