little miss poops alot stops pooping alot

Ok so my baby is a little more than 3 months old, and since the day she was born he has pooped in nearly every diaper. all of a sudden about two weeks ago she started going only once every few days this last time it was four days between poops! She doesn`t seem cranky or uncomfortable... at what point do I become concerned? or should i be?

canadababy - 958 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) right at 3months my DD went from pooping at least once a day to once or twice a week. She actually went 10days without a poop and I started getting really worried, but the 2 dr's said breastfed babies don't get constipated and not to worry :) So for me, I started getting worried past a week, anything less than that is probably okay. And to get her to poop I gave her sugar water bottles every 4hours until she went (took 3 bottles!).

abbyquiet - 959 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) exactly what happyforest said. as long as the poop is soft, and not formed then you're fine.

happyforest - 959 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) their poop habits will keep changing with time. my doctor said it is not the AMOUNT OF TIME between poops that matters, IT IS THE CONSISTENCY. so as long as when she does go, it is not hard, then there is nothing to worry about. if it is hard when she goes, then she is constipated and you would need to give her some juice, quit giving rice, switch formula, or make some other diet modification.
