What are the rules for things i can and cant do for it? Can i eat and drink before i go to the hospital? Also how long will i stay in the hospital after if everything goes fine, is it the same as if i went into labor natural?

Some people throw up during labour and of course, if you have to have a c-section, it's always better to not have food in you. I was induced at 8am - I couldn't eat anything after midnight. I was given an edema at the hospital (which was actually a good thing!!) and the only thing I was able to have through labour was sips of water now and then. I was STARVING through labour and once Isabella came out, my husband made them open the kitchen to prepare a meal for me!!! We had her at 5pm and I didn't get to my room till 8pm so the kitchen was closed - but I got my dinner afterall!! Good luck to you!!! xox

As for how long your stay will be, it depends a lot on how your body reacts. I had already technically gone into labor (my water was leaking slowly and I was one cm dilated) when they began induction with Cervidil around 10 p.m. -- by the next morning, I was 7 cm dilated and asking for that epidural. Baby was born six hours later and my stay was a normal 48 hours after that.

happyforest - 958 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) make sure you eat before you go bc once you get there they will only give you clear liquids and jello. i was in labor 14 hours with NO food, so when it came time to push i was exhausted and weak. all i had eaten before i went in that morning was some berries, next time i will be eating A TON before i go in! and as long as you have a normal vaginal delivery, induction or not, you can go home within 2 days or less.

LizetteCheree - 958 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Im in south africa,i was not told i couldt eat during my induction,so i went w/out food for 15 hours, grrr stupid people. My advice is stuff your face before going to the hospital. As far as i know u can only get ice,no food or liquids.I deliverd at 15:14pm and went home the next morning at 11am.

krystiannoah - 958 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i would say to eat as much as you can before you go in because you dont get to eat until after youve had the baby...i stuffed my face with a whole bunch of food before i left...if labor goes fine, they usually make you stay for at least 48hrs....at least they do here in NY...i was induced thursday morning and had my son on thursday night and was able to leave saturday morning...

Its-Chelle - 958 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) you may want to check with your doc on the rules to be sure. it could vary between rules depending where youre at and what situation youre in. i was scheduled for a morning induction and i dont think i had anything but ice chips. i was able to go home the very next night and my labor/birth went fine.
