Preterm labor? Added: 144 days ago. Added by: angela-and-jay Section: General. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
Does preterm labor feel like sharp pains all over your tummy? I have been having pains all evening that feel like sharp pains on my right side and belly button and lower cramp pains. Sometimes they go away when I adjust and other times they never go away... It`s late here so my doctor`s clinic is closed and I`m not sure if I should call the hospital or not.... Could it just be my tummy stretching and growing?

Pre term labour just feels like regular labour. Tightening and cramping of the uterus, like a cramp that lasts a little while and then comes back and feels the same. I am sure its either stretching or gas pains. I had horrible gas plains. If you have anymore preterm labour questions ask me, I had mine naturally at 22 weeks.

Sometimes, believe it or not, gas can hurt that badly. Try changing positions or drinking water or having someone massage your tummy. If any of that helps, then it's nothing to worry about. real contractions come on slowly and build and build, get sharp, then subside slowly...like going up and down a hill and they also come at vey exact intervals..like every 10 min or every 20 min...BUT when in doubt, call your ob

They could be Braxton Hicks, don't let anyone tell you they're never painful! I had horrible BH once or twice a week for the last 2months of my pregnancy. They were coming sometimes every 5minutes and last for hours but they always went away. My OB said to come in when the pain became unbearable :) Laying down, switching positions and drinking water is all good advice.

Try laying down and drinking some water. if they go away they may just be stretchy pains, but for any reason at all, if they dont stop, get worse definetly call your doctor. if you find them coming in waves, like contrations i would definetly call. Never be afraid to call your doctor, thats what theyre for!
