ok i bet someone is going to laugh at me for this but i have been wondering this for a while now. so how long should i be burping my son? when is it no longer necessary? he seems to burp on his own some

lovelee - 953 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I still give my 10 month old a break half way between a bottle to burp. I think burping is really important, if air gets stuck it hurts their little tummies. From around 6 months I let him burp on his own in the middle of a bottle but before that I helped him burp at least twice during a bottle.

pooka - 954 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I stopped after the first month or so because my son was breast fed and they tend not to swallow as much air.

mariettap - 954 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I stopped very early on. Neither of my children ever seemed to burp when I patted their backs, etc, after feeding, so I just stopped. In some parts of the world burping is unheard of, so it can't be all that important. askdrsears.com has an article about this called "burping baby."

RobinG - 955 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I stopped at about 4 months :) If he can burp on his own then the only time to really attempt to burp is if he has a bubble and you can tell it is clearly bothering him :) ((hugs))

LizetteCheree - 955 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Well i stopped at 4 1/2 months,i just put her down to sit and it comes out on its own.Not a dumb question at all.:-)

SazaUK(TTC2) - 955 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Its not a dumb question at all, I have often wondered this myself because my LO is 5 1/2 months and mainly burps himself now. I do still try though sometimes.

newyearsbb - 955 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i think my sis stopped around six months or a little later when she set him down to crawl he would burp on his own, as long as they do it on their own and arent gassy and fussy i think u fine, btw no dumb questions on here! we are all here to learn from eachother at different stages

juels101 - 955 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Just until he burps, if your sitting there for like 15 min and nothing comes out he probably doesent need it. 15 min is an exaduration, but they should burp on there own within a few minutes.

Bangel - 955 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) around 6 months, my son started kicking me and squirming all over when I tried to burp him, so I'd give up and he'd burp a couple minutes later on his own. After a week of this, I quit trying and he's been burping himself ever since (he's 8.5 months now).
