Baby Vegetarian? Added: 951 days ago. Added by: sailorsbabybump Section: General. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
My 9 month old daughter REFUSES to eat ANYTHING with meat in it. I have tried to hide it in cereal but she still knows it`s there. She`ll eat any veggie I throw at her but seems to have meat. I`ve tried turkey and beef. Any suggestions?

ugh, I am struggling with the same thing. If I open a jar of baby food that has beef or chicken in it, my 8 month old smells it and refuses to open her mouth for a bite! The only way I can get meat into her is if it comes from my plate. I tear off little tiny pieces of well-cooked meat and feet it to her, she loves it!

Don't think I'm a bad person, but force it. My baby didn't like the meat at first either, but I forced it and he came around. I'm not going to let him be a picky eater and I think if I let him get away with it now, he'll get away with it forever.

The only baby jar met I gave my daughter was the turkey mixed with rice or veggies..or chicken. I never did the beef, it looked and tasted terrible.
She wasn't much of a "meat" eater until now..she's 18 months. She loved Tofu though at 9 months.

My youngest didn't care for meat much, and I found that adding some fruit to it made it easier for him to eat. I usually added apples.

my 8 month old is the same way. i dont make him eat meat, i dont sneak it in. formula provides all the nutrition needed up until a year, so that takes care of his protein. he loves fruit and veggies and everything else he has had so far. sometimes he will eat meat if it is something ive been eating that has some flavor to it, but the baby food meat is disgusting!! i dont blame him, i wouldnt eat it either

Meat is over-rated, and with all of the hormones and anti-biotics they give to cows, chickens and pigs, it's probably better for her to abstain anyway. Try tofu, they have fruit flavored soft tofu, and the firm kind can be dipped in sauces or ketchup. It will give her the protein she's missing from the meat, and you can always try her again on meat when she's a bit older.

meat filled ravioli in a can she loved those.
forgot about that =) i rinsed off most of the sauce too messy LOL. but i think gerber sells just the raviloli now or you can just boil up some of the frozen kind either way. just the can stuff was mushier

mine wouldnt eat the meat either. i didnt blame her they smelled horrid to me lol. i gave her boiled chicken shredded up to pieces she already had teeth so she could chew. i wouldnt worry too much if yours wont eat meats from the jar. i hear alot of baby's just dont like them. my daughter loves meat now (she's 7) and not really picky at all. good luck!

I would try a variety of small meats, not puree'd. Some very small chopped chicken, that sort of thing.

Try finger food. Things like tuna, chicken and some cold sandwich meat like berliner and ham are great to have for finger food also minced beef or chicken with a sauce like bolognaise. As soon as my third son started to get fussy and refuse certain foods I offered I just sat them infront of him and he went for it. Now he doesn't refuse anything!

Isabella does the same with beef only. She eats chicken however. I just make sure that it is pureed to hell - almost like a soup without any lumps whatsoever!! I'm trying this with beef but she still doesn't really like it.

My son did the same thing. Would not eat any meat. He soon grew out of it when he got more teeth. Maybe she is not liking the texture. Or she could just not like meat!!!!
