When your doctor says well your baby is going to be about so-so pounds, how often were they right???

aussiegirl80 - 941 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My doctor and midwives told me every week "watch out, she's gonna be a big baby!" and scared me about the delivery. Well I ended up being 10 days overdue and she only weighed 7pounds3 (about 3.3kg) so they weren't right at all, she would have been even less if she had been born when she was ment to!

LoveChild - 943 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) You can guess better than the doctor b/c you're the one carrying the weight daily. With both of my babies, the doctor were way off. I guessed my 2nd baby right on b/c I had already carried a baby and could compare. :)

hollienjax - 943 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) With that said I would listen to the ultrasound estimate and not the doc feeling on your belly. The u/s measures the bones and that's how they get there estimate

hollienjax - 943 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It is usually an estimate within a pound either way. Sometimes its right on and sometimes way off. I wouldn't trust it too much though.

lize - 943 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) They weren't right. She said that my son would be 6 pound but he was 8,5! My daugther was 8 pound, but before the doctor says that she would be 7. Don't believe the doctor ;)

sweetbabyboy - 943 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) they said my son was 8lbs 2oz at 38 weeks 1 day, I gave birth at 38 weeks 6 days and he was 8lbs 1oz, so pretty close for me too!!!

jumpingbean - 943 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) all the doctors told me my baby was going to be big and to be prepared for a c/s but I had her vaginally and she was only 6lbs 2 oz. She's 6 weeks now and still tiny. Only gained a pound so far.

RobinG - 943 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If they were right it was pure luck. They can guesstimate and sometimes be close but there is no way to be exact without luck :)

Its-Chelle - 943 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) with my 4 kids, they were pretty accurate, and it was different docs with each. especially when had my 4th, she said he was gonna be an 8lb baby, which i didnt believe, my others were 6 and 7 lbs. but yep he was 8 lbs 7 oz!

queenciji - 943 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My ultrasound showed that my baby was gunna be 9pounds 9 oz 4 weeks before i had her and she came out 8 pounds 8 oz so i wouldnt lisen to what they say! U never accually know until u give birth! I retained a lot of water maybe tahst what threw them off but ya i woudnt lisen to what they say!

luvbeingamom - 943 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) NEVER! Sorry, With my first they said he would be 9 almost 10 lbs and he was 7lbs 4.5 oz. With my second they said 5 maybe 6 lbs and he was 7lbs 1oz. They have no idea what they are talkign about!!!!

happyforest - 943 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) not even close in my case!!! i didnt get a u/s after 18 weeks, so they only way he could guess was by feeling and measuring my belly. i measured 2 weeks ahead the whole time, which he told me didnt mean anything. but I KNEW i had a huge baby!! i kept asking them if they would give me another u/s at the end just to check and they said no, he wouldnt be over 8 lbs and prob not even that. well he was 9 lb 5 oz!!! good thing i was able to have him vaginally thanks to my pelvis or i would have end up in emergency c/s instead of planned bc of my doc!!! grrrrrr

megandgrace - 943 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) The day before i delivered at 37 weeks, the ultra sound tech said she was going to be well over 8 1/2 lbs but she was only 7 lbs 2 oz. My doctor only said that she was going to be a nice healthy baby, nothing about the weight.

I had my daughter at 38 weeks but had a high ultra sound aweek before and they were saying oh she is going to be such a big baby they guessed her weight would be around 9 pounds but she only came out weighing 7 pounds 7oz they say usually it is a pound over or a pund less give or take to what the baby weighs

ashysmm1 - 943 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) when i was pregnant with my daughter i had to admitted to the hospital cause i had high blood pressure at 35 weeks preggo and they guessed my baby to be about 7-8 pounds well when i had her on her due date she only weighed 5lbz 14oz so they guess it but there sometimes off by a pound or so
