Dont be so hard on yourself. I have friends that smoked 1 1/2 packs a day the whole pregnancy and had healthy babies. My doctor told me early in my pregnancy that stress is worse that smoking on the baby. I have smoked for 13 years. I was a heavy smoker and enjoyed my habit. This is my first baby and the guilt was to much for me. I quit at 13 weeks cold turkey. The hardest thing I have ever done. I had to mentally wrap my mind around it. I did not set a date b/c that just stressed me out more. I just told my husband one day, "I think this is my last pack" and it was. I miss it so bad. I would love to tell you that it gets easier but for me it has not. I want to breastfeed and know I need to hold off a few more months. I dont want to start back (b/c of the price increases) but I feel like part of my personality has been taken. I'm sorry this is so long but you cant really vent about this subject w/ just everyone. Only a smoker would understand. What ever your choice, Good luck. You know its healthier but......do what you have to do for a stress free pregnancy.

seriously don't kick yourself too much quitting smoking is really really hard, i smoked for ten years and the only way I was able to quit was chantix. I have always felt that it's one of those things that you need to really boost yourself alot when quitting. I think you need to celebrate every little victory even if it's that you smoked two less one day. every small victory is a big one for your lil baby :) try not to be too hard on yourself and take it day by day hun, you'll do ok.

i didnt smoke with my first 2 children but with my daughter i have just had i did. im ashamed to say i actually smoked more when i was pregnant than ever before. ( about 25-30, shamefull i know) and every day i felt guilty and tried to give up but just couldnt, i think i craved it more than normal. my baby was born healthy, she weighed 7lb 15,(my other 2 when i didnt smoke were 8lb10 and 8lb12) so i guess it made her smaller. all i can say is i know how you feel and i sympathise with you, its not your fault its just sooooo hard. good luck xxx

i completely understand where you're coming from...im 30 weeks pregnant and i still smoke. it is way more difficult than people think. My doctor says to keep trying to cut back..if i could stay under 3 a day i was doing great. I don't know how many you're smoking, but just keep trying to cut back as far as you can. Smoke 1/2 at a time. I have found that the further along i get, i feel more guilty, which causes me to smoke more. I just try to take a lot of naps, and eat a lot to occupy myself. Good luck...congratulations on your baby. Just try to not stress yourself too much, but do the best you can, that's all you can do.
