Forward facing carseat??? Added: 941 days ago. Added by: angela-and-jay Section: General. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
I`m expecting my second child and now I am faced with the task of buying my toddler a new carseat and I am wondering when it is safe to put her forward facing? She is 32 inches tall and weighs 22 pounds and is 20 months old... Is it safe to place ger in a forward facing carseat now?

It is still best to keep her rear facing as long as possible. You can buy the toddler seats that start at 5lbs so she could still remain rear facing.

My daughter just turned 2 and is 32 inches and 21.5lbz when she was 1 1/2 yrs old she hit the 20 lbz mark so thats when i faced her around in her convertable carseat she now loves it and i feel better cause now she gets to feel the A/C

I'm wondering how you keep a 20 month old from throwing a fit with her facing backwards!! she is definately big enough. I have big kids so I don't know but mine were sitting up forward facing no later than 10 months?? But yes turn her around : )

must be diff regulations in america because in aust we dont keep them rear facing that long u usually turn the seat around when they r about 4 months old

yes it is safe. She is a bit on the lighter side, but the regulations are 1 year AND 20lbs. There are also convertable seats on the market that allow your child to be rear facing longer but also will turn around and work front facing too. There are a select few seats, like the Britax marathon, that use a 5pt harness until 65lbs that can be used rear facing and front facing. If you want to go solely with a front facing seat, i recommend the Britax Regent or Britax Frontier that allow yoru child to remain in a 5pt harness until 80lbs/8 yrs old.

Normally, you turn the child foward facing at 1. :) I did on my daughter's 1st birthday! :)
