Im getting an amnio tomarrow I`m 38 weeks 3 days to make sure lungs are developed. I have digestional diabetes and if they are developed will have c section Thursday morning. I guess I`m curious if anyone is in same boat. If it hurts and if you had this done if your baby`s lungs were fine.

And my husband was able to watch the whole thing on the screen and saw that the Dr. didn't even come close to the baby (I could have watched, but I coulnd't; i was a little freaked out). Good Luck!!

bratgirl65 - 938 days ago Thanks a lot. I was happy to see some response as I can not sleep. Its 4:20 am. I appreciate the support.

Cindie - 938 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had my amnio last wednesday but I'm 17w. It's the same no matter when you get it. It feels the same as if you were getting your belly button pierced... more like a pinch/pressure/slight prick of pain, and thn when it goes into the uterus. I also experienced a pinching pain when he pulled it out. They don't go in only 1 area on the belly, they go wherever they can get a good pocket of fluid. Just take it easy for the rest of the day, no lifting stuff, very little walking and you'll be fine. I had cramps if I started doing to much, so I went ahead and sat down and had other's help me.

jeniwalker - 939 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i know they were concerned about lung development in my daughter as well with my gestational diabetes. i didnt have an amnio done, but was told that something to do with the crazy blood sugars hurts lung development. I had Biophysical profiles done, which was an U/S in which they checked to see if she was doing "practice breathing" to cheack for lung maturity

cleebel - 939 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Hi. No I have not had this done, but honestly, I would have to say at 38 weeks there should be no need to do amnio to check the lungs as you are technically full term. I think that if you have to have one everything should be fine. God Bless and take care.
