Hi, like everyone else has said, don't worry abt the delivery.I wud say it's the easier part of pregnancy compared to heartburns, sciatics and all other wonderful things we get during prego.I took the epi when I was 8CM..I cud not take the pain anymore and I wanted to enjoy the birth..but the epi did not work for me first time..they had to give me another dose..I was almost 10cm but luckily it kicked in..I guess once u r 10cm, u get the urge to push and it feels like pressure not pain after that..recovery will be slow if u had a tear and haemorrhoids is another irritating side effect..but everything will be back to normal in 3 months except for the muffin top..lol..good luck..

All i kept thinking was its always gonna end and there is a fantastic ending to it. yes its a bit painful but the second you hold your little one you won't be able to remember the pain as the feeling of pure joy just takes over your body!! its ammazing and i can't wait to do it again si it can't be that bad. take care, x

Don't think about it as in 'how bad does giving birth feel' - yes it hurts but keep in mind it's GOOD pain, focus on what you get out of it at the end. I just gave birth 4 months ago without pain medication.. Yeah, I'm not gonna lie - it hurts, but it's a satisfying pain.. The urge to push is so overwhelming, your body takes over nad pushing feels GOOD.. It's like clenching your teeth together really har when you have a toothache - it hurts, but it's satisfying.. And then, when the baby comes out, in that exact same instance, it just disappears.. I had a really really bad 4th degree tear and I didn't feel it.. I had to go into theatre afterwards for a repair job.. So all those girls that give birth and don't rip - they must have been in even less pain that what I was... and even with my bad tear, it was doable and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.. Think positively about your birth and don't associate negative words such as bad and pain with it.. I can't even describe it, I really cant, it was that wonderful.. and when the endorphins and adrenaline flood your system immediately after delivery, you're on cloud 9 - pure euphoria.. I can't wait to do it all again.

I gave birth vaginally without pain medication. The contractions were painful and I couldn't walk around or get into different positions because I was on monitors because they broke my water, that being said though actual labour wasn't that bad. I would honestly have more children if I didn't have complications prior to giving birth. I pushed for not even ten minutes and my daughter was born. No tearing, no stitches needed and only three days of bleeding afterwards.

Having the epi helped me, however I could still feel my right side! But the contractions wern't that bad I went from nothing to a 4-5 in 8 hours, then was given the epi. 20 minutes later I was at a 9-10 it felt like period cramps but times 100!! once those were not so intense and it was time to push it was easy! but my daughter was only 6lb 8oz. any bigger and I'm sure I would feel differently.

I was induced with no epidural, the contractions was horrid, pushing was a relieve and healing afterwards was only like 2 days long.Only got 1 tiny stitch.

Contractions for me..were the worst part! in my experience..pushing the baby out, felt like pushing a bowling ball out of my butt...I know it's sounds gross..but honestly, TO ME, that's what it felt like. The epidural didn't work for me.

I wouldnt worry about it!!! as soon as you have that baby youll forget about the pain., i mean woman have children everyday and then go on to have more right! youll be so focused on the job at hand the pain will be an after thought

honestly i think healing was worse, the contraction hurt but i dont remember feeling any pain when i pushed her out. all i remember was alot of pressure, i didnt even know i tore bc i didnt feel it. i got bruised and swollen hemmoriods the size of texas. those took the longest to go away and those caused me more discomfort and pain than anything else. =) its different for everyone.

i aggree. giving birth isnt that bad, i think the feelings and emotions of the arrival of the baby wipe out the pain. a contraction is a strange pain, difficult to expaine, i think its a different to period pain, more intense but building up and down in peaks rather than the constant niggle of a period pain. hope this helps x

well i had the epidural, so when he actually came out i didnt feel it AT ALL, i wouldnt have even known if they hadnt told me to reach down to feel his head when it was crowning. but the labor is what reallllly hurts. before i got my epi i was in so much pain, there is really no point to try to explain it bc you can't. the actual 'birthing' wasnt bad at all. i didnt even tear, only pushed for 20 min, and he was 9.5 lb! the recovery sucked, but not near as bad as it does for some people im sure. i had a lot of hemroids, and my vag was so bruised swollen at first that when i went to pee i could actually feel the toilet water! so gross, i know. but i just tell myself to be happy with that, could have been so much worse.
