I have heard that being induced is more painful than going into labor more naturally.. Does anyone have experience with this?

sweety198622 - 929 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I was induced at 38 weeks(pelvic size) and this is my first baby,so i have nothing to compare to but yes it was very painfull,i was fine till i hit 6 cms.It all went quick,5 hours from when they put the cervidal in till she was born. After the cervidal, they broke my waters and i was only a 2 then so they gave me pitocin.Just to add i wasnt dialated or effaced when i arrived at the hospital.i also had no pain meds.

I have never had pitocen to induce but I have heard that it may make it more painful, not sure how true it is. Maybe ask if you can have a cervidel?? Good luck! Oh BTW my daughter was 10 days over due at the time that's why I got it.

Both times it was long, but my mother had over 30hr labors so I think that has to do with her. Mine were also gradual, and the pain came just as it was always described to me in natural labor. I did use an epidural, but that is because I hemerage each time and they need to remove the plasenta by hand right after birth. Both my experiences were just fine.. painful, of course but no more than going into labor naturally, I am convinced ^_-

abbyquiet - 930 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i think no matter what it'd hurt. i was induced, and i love me some epidural. being induced makes the whole ordeal faster (most of the time), but i'd say you'll still have the same amount of pain over all. you can either have it drawn out, or quickened up.

sarahann - 930 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) To cut a long story short, the doctors eventually induced me by using Pitocin in a drip. It worked and the contractions started really quick. The midwife told me that it is more painful than going naturally because when you are induced the contractions come a lot quicker and a lot stronger, and you don't have a chance to build up to them, they just hit you hard. I couldn't bear it for more than a few hours and I ended up having an epidural. My labour lasted for about 10 or so hours. I really hope I don't have to get induced this time... But of course, like everything, not everyone is the same.

The contractions were bad but my labour was very quick so I can't really say. I would go through labour again though and not many people say that and I did it without pain medication
