ok so my baby will be 1 next mth and im thinking about not having her immunised against something that i see as part of growing up. chicken pox. its only bad b4 they r 1 but they only immunise against this after 1 yr old so why put her thru it? any advice?

happyforest - 927 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i had chicken pox as a child and so did my brother and everyone else i know! the vaccine is newer. we were all fine. i think getting the vaccine is kinda pointless, bc they can STILL get chicken pox and might even get it from the vaccine! but if you dont vaccinate, they might not get it. i would rather take the chance of my baby MAYBE getting cpox, than to inject them with chemicals and poisons that might give them the disease anyway or even worse have a deadly reaction. but that is just my opinion. im sure you will find people on all sides. i prefer to let my child build a natural immune system. also i have never known one person in my whole life that has ever had shingles....i guess just pick which is riskier in your situation...

starby - 928 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I read that having chickenpox increases your risk/chance of getting shingles later in life significantly. I was opposed to the vaccine at first but I dont know if you've ever been around someone with shingles, its AWFUL. I went ahead and had my daughter vaccinated, its a pretty benign shot, she didnt have any sort of reaction to it at all. My nurse told us that they've linked shingles and chickenpox and are that shingles will quite possibly pop up later in life if you have the chickenpox virus in your system as they are seeing it in lots and lots of seniors, she said the idea is to vaccinate kids now so they can wipe out shingles in this generation...

tamm - 928 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) maybe they weren't severe when you got them, but in my case, i was the last of 5 kids and they all got the cp before i was born. i didn't have them til my nephew got them in kindergarten, by then i was in high school, i was sooooooo sick from it, it is much more severe if you get it when you're older. i had them everywhere, even my palms, i missed a month of school, had to take steroids (didnt help much), after the blisters stopped oozing i finally had to go back to school covered in scabs; i looked a fright, 16 years later i've got several scars they look like blisters, and a big old pockmark in my forehead. the reaction was much more severe than usual, but how can you know that your baby won't have a complication? i'm not sure if the cp vaccine prevents shingles too, but that's another awful version of cp... i'd like to see cp wiped off the planet, no one should have to suffer thru it anymore, awful awful illness-- i sure wish i'd gotten a vaccine for it as a child. if only i could go back in time, LOL.

our1st.girl - 929 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My first son got the chicken pox at 4 mon. and they were horrible despite the fact that I breast fed he got them bad and spread them to two of my very good friends who had to be hospitalized due to their age and the severity of the out break. My last three boys all got the shot and have been exposed they have never had them nor do I think they ever will my daughter will recieve the shot also when she is ready.

nutnut - 929 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my daughter had it.

nutnut - 929 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my daughter had it. i remember when i had chicken pox they werent the tinylittle red marks that itched. they were the size of silver dollars and larger and they were filled with liquid and hurt to lay on them. when the would burst they felt like blisters that had been ripped open. this was just how my body responded to chicken pox and it totally sucked. i didnt want to take the chance my daughter would react the same way to chicken pox as i did so i let them give her the shot.

10yrs.later09 - 929 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my sister was in high school when she got the cp...I thankfully never had it neither has my 10yr and we both were vaccinated..and one on the way! best of luck!

lovelee - 929 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Where I live they do the immunisation at 18 months. I have immunised my oldest and he had no reaction. I had chicken pox when I was 14 and it was horrible, I was so sick and even had them on my throat and couldn't swollow without crying, I would of much rathered have a needle then go through that and thats why I got my son immunised. Also heard that chicken pox is worse if you get it when your older?? Oh and my babys one next month too!
