How many times a day should my 9 day old be going? He had one big one really early this morning.. and not again yet. It is late here, so the dr is closed and I am starting to get worried.

nicnmicsmom - 922 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My dd is now 4 weeks old. We JUST asked her doctor about the whole "poop" thing. What he said was this. Sometimes babies can go more than a day without pooping. Sometimes they'll poop several times in one day. Breastfed babies are different than formula fed babies but he said that as long as they have wet diapers, not to worry. Every baby is different and can be different from day to day and month to month depending on their growth.

megeanua - 922 days ago well he seems to just be waiting around to have one huge one every day.. its been like that the past 3 days. He has been having plenty of wet diapers. He is formula fed and from what I have been reading it is normal for him to have only one a day.

mariettap - 922 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) It depends also on whether he is breast fed or formula fed. In either case, if he has been having many wet diapers per day, then it can wait till morning. If breast fed and you have any concerns about infrequent wet diapers and dirty diapers, then ask if you can bring baby in to be weighed and ask for a lactation consultant referral. He's very young, so it's important to make sure he's on the right track. Congratulations on your baby. Here's a link with the details on how many wet/dirty diapers: http://www.thelaboroflove.com/articles/how-many-wet-diapers-in-a-day-are-normal-for-your-baby/

happyforest - 922 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it isnt how often that matters. it is the consistency. if it is really hard, then he is constipated. if he goes a few days without pooping but then its soft whenit comes out, he is fine.
