mama2be12.31.09 - 922 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) dont lie but dont tell them, in the u.s. they cant legally ask and you never have to tell. i am still looking for a job at 20 weeks, with a beer belly :) and i dont plan on telling until someone asks me straight out are you pregnant? then i will tell them

Employers have ALOT of tasks to undertake with a pregnant employee such as risk assessments and so on and so forth - so you should really tell them sooner rather than later.. That being said, you're in the US so I;m not sure how it works, but I just know we have to provide written confirmation by the 15th week... Also int he UK, temp staff are entitled to same pregnancy/maternity benefits as a full employee..

If they do ask you to stay on, tell them that you are pg, and how far along you are and explain that you love working for their company and would be delighted to take the job, and would hope to continue working for them but you know that this could impact their decision. I was in a similar position (offered a job at 8 weeks) and after alot of thought, I realised it was best to tell him. It could be seen as dishonest if you don't. I got the job, btw. Just hold off until you know if they intend to make you perm or not. Good luck.

mylittleman - 923 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) When I interviewed for my current job I was 16 wks pregnant. I did not tell them until I had been working for about a month. It isn't legal for them to not hire you based on pregnancy but like porscheg said, they can give you a different reason...you'd never be able to prove it was because you were pregnant! I'd hold off...doesn't look bad. It's your personal business and life and you can choose to tell who you want to tell. While alot of people tell everyone right away, I know alot of people who have held off till they were at least 16 weeks because they were afraid of miscarriage, etc, and didn't want everyone knowing.

porscheg - 923 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I wouldn't tell them until I became permanent. Though they can't fire you for being pregnant, they can choose not to make you permanent in a temp position and give you any other reason why. It's only a couple more weeks. I would wait it out and see if they make you permanent. Good luck

nutnut - 923 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) you dont have to tell them unless its going to affect what you can and cant do. some women dont tell anyone until the start to show. i told my boss right away, only bc i was the store manager and i had to climb shelves, lift over 100lbs, move things around, and work 65+hours a week. i was so sick with all day morning sickness i couldnt do it anymore. so i told them. but in your case, i would probably wait until a bit later. maybe after your 3 weeks is up and see if they are going to keep you on. they cant fire you for being pregnant its illegal.

jq baby - 923 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Well-- it's really up to you. I was hired in my current position and was pregnant. I did not tell them I was pregnant Until I was about 6 months ( 5.5 or so). I didn't want to have any issues. I went to my doctors appointments on my lunch and carried my weight in my hips and I dressed to cover my belly. Legally they can't fire you for being pregnant and you don't have to inform them until you are ready. For the most part don't stress!! I did tell my job-- they worked with me, gave me a surprise babyshower and I am now back at work. Pray on it and you will know when the time is right.

~2nd TyMe Mom~ - 923 days ago WELL I DEF DONT WANT THAT HAPPENING....I GUESS I AM GONNA KEEP IT HUSH HUSH TILL THOSE THREE WEEKS THEN TELL THEM!!! I MEAN IF THEY HIRE ME THEN FIRE ME I CAN SUE EM FOR IT AND THAT WOULD BE PROOF!! I JUST CANT LIE ABOUT IT IF THEY ASK I WILL BE HONEST!!! THANK YALL FOR ANSWERING ME!!!

dorolyn - 923 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I was offered a new job before I found out I was pregnant. By the time I was done with training I was having severe morning sickess. Of course my manager found out and I was fired within 2 weeks.

happyforest - 923 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) if you want a job, you better not tell. it sucks that it has to be that way, but thats just how it is.

coolnessa8 - 923 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I don't know if I agree with nicmicsmom. I think that withholding this information can damage your relationship with the company. If you were still in your first trimester, I think you'd be in the clear, however you're getting pretty far into the pregnancy at this point. If you do wait until they hire you & then spill the beans, they may feel insulted that you tried to "pull one over on them." Also, you're likely going to start showing soon, which may raise eyebrows. I understand you may need this job very badly, especially in this economy, however if they are the type of company to not hire you because you're pregnant, then they aren't very family friendly & won't likely be forgiving when you have doctors appointments & baby stuff to tkae care of. I would recommend telling your temp agency as soon as possible & seeking their advice. Good luck to you!!

larryslady - 923 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I'll wait until the 3 weeks is up!!

nicnmicsmom - 923 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I'd wait the three more weeks to see if they hire your permanently and then tell them if they do. Once they offer you the position, they can't then fire you or let you go for being pregnant but unfortunately, they CAN opt not to hire your permanently and get away with it. If the job is important to you, wait the three more weeks.
