As a first time mom, my 12 day old little boy keeps catching me off guard when I change his diaper and peeing on me, himself, his bed, haha anything within range. I know this is normal for little boys, but what are some tips to avoid this. I know I will get better/quicker at changing his diapers, but until then, any tips?

It worked pretty well. Just make sure to have a blanket or towel underneath him that you don't mind getting pee on just incase..

I also would put a clean diaper under his bottom before taking off the dirty one (as if you were about to fasten the clean diaper over top of the dirty one). If it's just a pee diaper you can very quickly slip the old one off while covering his front with the dry diaper. If it's a dirty one, I also would put a wipe over his penis while doing the dirty work (wiping his bottom) and if he did pee during this time, it would just run back down into the clean diaper. Hope this helps! It's easier to explain in person!

my.family - 920 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) what i always did with my son was have a clean diaper under him even before i start to change him, as soon as i took his diaper off i would have a wipe over his wee-wee, wipe him, take the soiled diaper off, then make sure his wee-wee is pointed down (less of a chance he will leak), and put the diaper on...you have to be fast. i hope this helps out!

megeanua - 920 days ago thanks for all the tips! Made sure to place a wipe on him and a new diaper under him before changing and it made a huge difference. No pee on me today!

hannahe - 920 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) before you take off the wet diaper put a clean one underneath, undo the old one and take it off from back to front keeping the goods covered until he is all wiped in back then use the wipe to cover, go quick and pull the clean one around....and pray you do it in time! my son was a pee man. every time!!

bellamami.xo - 920 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) place a wipe on his penis as soon as you pull the diaper away, I cant remember how many times I have been pee'd on. First thing mothers day morning when he was newborn too lol

RobinG - 920 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) We use a changing table so nothing important gets wet :) We have a small baby wash cloth and soon as I open the diaper I place it on his privates so if he pees it goes into the cloth, not hte air. If you dont cover him it will not make any difference if you only put a cloth under him. You need to cover his "peter" :). I always have the new diaper ready and open so once I take the old one off I can put it on right away.

nikki80 - 920 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i have heard this alot from ppl who have baby boys but honestly i have 4 sons and have never been peed on lol so i dont have any tips for u but is good to see everyone elses :)

~My Family♥My Happiness~ - 921 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) WELL WITH MY SON I COULD NEVER CHANGE HIM WHEN HE WAS CRYING BECAUSE HE WOULD ALWAYS PEE. TRY TO DO IT RIGHT BEFORE A FEEDING.

MummyLJ - 921 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I usually do what mdbabyno1 says, but I also always have a facecloth handy (I keep them next to the wipes) and I keep his little wee covered. He still manages to get me once in a while though, lol and now he laughs when he does it :P probably because I go "hey!" and jump back so fast... gotta love little boys :D

mdbabyno1 - 921 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) In our child care class the instructor suggested opening the diaper and then just laying the diaper back down on to of him and waiting just a minute. Something about the cool air hitting it makes them pee

tamm - 921 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my SIL says wait a little bit before changing him in the morning right after he wakes, because they tend to get you then, one of the first things they will do when they wake up. my LO got me a few times before i learned to open very very carefully and to work quickly! once my baby was old enough to be bathed, we discovered that the bathwater makes him pee; he waits until he's settled into the water, LOL.

readyfornumber2 - 921 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I would have a disposable changing pad beneath him and cover him with the new diaper as soon as possible. This gets better as they get older. I can honestly say my son only gets me once or twice a month now.

kristina89 - 921 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) usually ill put a changing pad or towel underneath my baby boy and as soon as i take his diaper off i would put a wipie on top of him there and it helps

jo-jo!xo - 921 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) honestly the only thing that helped me with my baby cousin was, dont take the diaper off untill you have the other one ready and underneath the dirty one, that way you can just whipe the little mans bum and everything, clean him all up, and then pull the dirty diaper out from underneath, set it to the side for a second, and quickly cover his front with the clean one lol that way there no chance for him to pee everywhere. Also make sure you have everythign you need right there beside you so that you dont have to look away for longer then a second hope this helps!
