So im not exactly sure what they are called anymore, but after this baby is born i have considered geting the mirena iuc. the doctors dont want me on the pill because of how sick i get when im pregnant they think the hormones might have negative side effects. and condoms only work when you use them (hence baby number 3) but i really dont know anything about iuds and ive heard both good and bad about them, obviously i will talk to my dr. when the time is here but i thought i would ask if anyone has used it and had either a good or bad experience.. thanks

last.one.for.me - 920 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If you have problems on birth control containing progesterone (mini pill) or the combined pill - progestrone and eastrogen, then you will probably have side effects on the mirena (IUS - Intra-Uterine System) because not only is it a coil that prevents implantation, it is also impregnanted with synthetic progesterone.. I would speak to your doctor about the bog standard coil - which is shaped like the mirena but has no hormones whatsoever, or ask about eastrogen only contraception. There's actually a brand new pill out which is an EXACT replica of estrogen so has very very very very few side effects, even compaared with the old synthetic estrogen only based birth control.. I react badly to any birth control that has synthetic prgesterone either with feelings of extreme anxiety and epression to bleeding for 12 weeks straight.. So that rules out the Depo shot, The Implanon or Norplant arm implant, the Mirena and any mini-pill. Ideally, I'm at my best when on non-hormonal contraception, so we're choosing natural family planning with a view that if we do get pregnant by accident, we want a third child anyway and then I will be sterilised.. OR I'll try the new exact estrogen based pill, or we'll just use condoms..
