Ok, so how did you do it? What works? My little girl Quinn is 1 year old and the pacifier needs to GO!!! She only has it for night time and naps. Any suggestions? Thanks everyone!!!!!

trkrchk - 918 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my 3rd daughter was my first pacifier baby. When the forumula can elmptied, she was 11 1/2 months old. We tossed the bottle, and the binkie. I tortured my hubby, but she only cried for a few nites. I wouldn't give her anything to suplement it, like a sippy at night, either. It just encourages another problem :) Maybe just a few more cuddles before she goes down. Good luck!

When my son came off the bottle we just threw it away and replaced it with sippy cups. Good luck it will probably be harder on you rather then her.

nutnut - 919 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i really dont know, my daughter never would take the pacificer even when she was newborn. so she didnt need to be broken of the habbit. my mom said with me, when it came time to get me off bottles, (we didnt use pacificers back then really) she just told me a squirrel took it and it was gone forever and let me deal with that. lol. you could just "misplace" it. he might just forget about it "out of sight out of mind" if its just as a security thing, try switching a new inexpensive bedtime/nap time toy for the binky. "if you give mommy the bink, you can have a new toy"

jumpingbean - 919 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I work in a daycare and one family I know told their daughter the garbage man took it because it's dirty. Another idea that I know of that has worked for many is to put a slit in the top where they suck. They will get air and the sucking won't be the same so they will give it up. Hope that helps

TaraR - 919 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My daughter is 2. We are having the same problem. She does have it at nap time. She doesn't really have to have it, she just has to know where it is. It's more of a security thing right now. We just keep it on the movie case and she's fine. Her doctor said to cut the nipple off and then tell it's broke. Maybe she will just throw it in the trash.

mother649808 - 919 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My oldest had his until he was 3! It sucked! So I learned then to take it away as soon as possible. We take our kids away at about 6 months now. I've heard of people "giving it to fairies" sticking it on the window seal and telling the child that the fairy has to take it to other babies. Also, if you know someone that has a a small baby then have your child give the pacifier to the baby "because you lil girl is a big girl now and the baby needs it". Hope this helps.

mrslucky - 919 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Our son suddenly decided he didnt want one anymore at 10 months, but if our daughter doesn't do it on her own we'll just make her go cold turkey!
