For those that have had tubal ligation, have you noticed any disadvantages or side effects you`d wish you`d known about before?

We`re currently, not trying, but not trying ot prevent our third and final baby... I definitely do NOT want more than 3 children - for practical reasons such as the ability to buy a house big enough, a car big enough and also for financial reasons i.e being able to clothes them, give them a good christmas, pay for their university education etc.. So, when I do concieve and give birth to my third child - via c-section as I had 2 bad 3rd/4th degree tears with both of my prior natural births - I`m going to have tubal ligation done at the same time. I`m worried there may be adverse effects though? I can cope with more cramping around AF time and heavier bleeding - but what else have you experienced?

LoveChild - 916 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I just got my tubes tied May 1st and so far things have been ok. I do have the usual, more cramping & bleeding, but it's worth it vs. more babies. I heard if you get the surgery done at the same time as a c~section that it's not done as well. Not positive about that, but that's what I researched. Guessing the doctor is more rushed b/c there's more than 1 thing to do and not focused on just 1 thing. Good Luck!!!

babyblue4 - 916 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I got pregnant!!! Make sure you find out what kind of tubal you are getting. I was clamped, and the clamps slipped or came off, resulting in me getting preggo a year after my surgery. My DH and I were surprised, and we love our DD to death now that she is here, but I still wish that someone had told me I have the option of having my tubes cauterized instead of clamped. The cauterized version is harder to reverse, but the success rate of the surgery is higher. Keep that in mind! And yes, my AFs were a lot heavier and more crampy after the surgery.
