nutnut - 913 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) try the straw kind. its still got a gummy like spout but theres straws so that way if they tip it they can still drink it. also show him youre putting the drink in there. otherwise time is all you can really do. eventually he will break the bottle habbit. i gave my daughter sippy cups during meals, and bottles at bedtime and naps, then only at bedtime, then one day none.

mother649808 - 913 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) In walmart they have a kit that kinda "trains" the child to a sippy cup. I used it with my daughter and it worked out great. It starts with a bottle top and nipple then you can change it over slowly to a sippy cup lid. Hope this helps!

little-lil - 913 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My girl doesn't want the cup too, she's 13 months, I will just wait till she understand one day before 2 yrs or 18 months, that bottles are for babies.. Hopefully she will understand at that time. very fraustrating for me!!!! I was stupid to give up when she was 8 months, I tried and she takes it here and there, and I stopped and now trying it again is a nightmare, if you know what I mean....

momof2beauties - 914 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) To answer your question Renee, No, I dont think it is the fact that he was a preemie, because Lilly was born at 28wks as you know and she took to a sippy cup right away. She has been on one since she turned 10 Months old (8 Mo Adjusted) She cant drink from the ones that are made of hard plastic, she hasnt gotten the mechanisim down for those yet, but she drinks from the ones who are soft and rubbery, like a nipple.I guess the ones you refer to as gummy like. Some babies are just hard to break and I guess I got Lucky with Lilly. I wish I could tell you something to try but I dont know. I just hope Lexi is this easy to break. Now I am sure when we get to Potty Training that wont be so easy. lol

hannahe - 914 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my daughter just now got off of her bottle (3 days ago!!) and she was not premature she was just stubborn!!!! and i was lazy and gave into her every time because she is soooo easy when she has it i just didnt want to spoil a good thing. but it was way time and i just had to throw the bottles away so that i wouldnt be tempted to use them. my son was quite the bottle adict too and it is the hardest thing i have done with either of them. it took a lot of time and a lot of explaining that they are big kids now not babies. and i tried every cup in the store. turns out mine like the cheapest ones. the take-n-toss. good luck i know it sucks!

RobinG - 914 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I know MANY who started on sippys by one but I also know MANY who still had a bottle til 15-18 months and got off it without a concerrn by then. I wouldnt stress. It is normal for a 1 year old to not want the sippy or struggle with wanting both. Hunter is autistic and struggles with oral dyspraxia. We went through MANY sippys to find the right noe and the learning curve one is the only one he liked from target or burlington. http://www.learningcurve.com/product/detail/Y9560?locale=en_AU Work on snack time and lucn time first and keep bottle for bed time then slowly work on bed time after daytime is switched :)

mathew102508 - 914 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Nuby work best for me!!! It has a silcone spout, not sure it you tried it or not.

owensbaby2 - 914 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) yes...my son was born at 28 weeks...You might just want to give it a month or two...At 14 months,he took to his sippy, without any difficulty...He may just not be ready...also..There are different varieties of sippies(I am sure you know)But I found one kind of similar to a bottle(I can't think off hand of the name)
