the world health organization (WHO) has now declared the effects of tanning beds to be comparable to mustard gas in it's potential for disease. So though a tanning booth might not affect your fetus, your lovely baby will need a a mommy around - don't risk melonoma / skin cancer. get your tan outside (in moderation!) or use a safe non toxic spray or cream. :)

Laying in the tanning bed is perfectly fine while pregnant, THE ONLY THING IS you have to get out if you get to hot. I layed in the tanning bed for the first 6 1/2 months of my pregnancy and I'm 37 weeks and have a healthy baby! Also I have been through hours and hours of training to own and run a tanning salon and have tanned many many pregnant women! You get so much more Vit. D from the UVA and UVB lights in the tanning bed than the sun and it is very good for your baby!

i was at the pool today and i saw this mommy to be her whole belly was super tan along with the rest of her body. she looked at least 8 months along, and she was laying out on the lawn chair soaking it all in. i personally have gotten more color than ive ever gotten simply from being out in the pool and active this summer. while i dont suggest going to a tanning booth, i would think sitting out in the sun or swimming or what have you is probably no more dangerous than it is while not pregnant. the only thing i would say is to keep really hydrated and dont sit out for too long to where you over heat or risk burning. i have no clue about spray on tans =P im used to being glow in the dark myself lol

The sun is actully good for you, you need it! so taning in the sun os ok just wear a sunblock, but enough to get some color! the baby needs the vitamin D.

it isnt know the effects on the fetus from breathing in the chemicals of a spray tan booth. i think having a person spray you with the airbrush would be better, bc you wouldnt be surrounded by chemical mist in a tiny booth that you were breathing in. i went to the spray booth once while preg, and everything was ok, so i guess maybe if it was just once or twice it would be ok. or you could buy sunless tanner and apply it yourself.

As long as the spray tan is sugar based you can do it while pregnant. One of my bridesmaids in my wedding was 10 weeks preggo and did it with the sugar based... The reason you're not supposed to go to a tanning bed is because it can make your core temperature too hot. When you get too hot it harms the growth of the baby. Usually you're ok if you get out of the heat when you start to feel too warm.
