I was told by the doc Wed that i have developed gestational diabetes. For years i have drank a lot of soda (like 4 cans a day) but ever since I was told, I have stopped drinking soda since then and my sugar has not been about 107 (normal range is 80-160) So is it possible that it was just from all the soda i was drinking and it not be out of my system yet or could it be that i have gestational diabetes? My food habbits haven`t really changed that much! Just wondering what you ladies think! Thanks

Needless to say my sugar never went over 110 and sometimes it was even down in the 50's so I would have to drink a pop. At first though I tried to do the whole counting carbs thing and it was for the birds, how do people eat like that?!! So I just ate whatever whenever and I was fine. I even had the occasional piece of cherry cheese cake and still my sugar stayed fine. I think the glucola tests are just a bit too strong. Don't get me wrong, some people do have serious sugar problems but I didn't. Good luck! Eat/drink whatever you want just test your sugar often to make sure you're doing okay. How can you tell a pregnant women she can't eat/drink this or that?!! That's crazy!

nutnut - 906 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) you can develope GD anytime in pregnancy and any woman can get it. the first time i took the single blood draw test, i scored a few points high they said. so i had to take the longer test (was horrible) anyway, that test came back "high normal" so they just told me to watch what i eat and i was fine. i dont think it has much to do with what you drank prior unless it was within the fasting window. but i could be wrong.
