what do you ladies think of beauty pageants for kids? i`d love to put the baby in them asap because like any other mother, i thnk i have the most beautiful kids in the world lol.i have a strong appetite for competition. do you think they should be out of the question entirely or wait have an age limit?

krissyRYEcarpenter - 898 days ago i was just looking at entry forms online in michigan and most say that under a certain age, they ask for little or no makeup and conservative attire and everyone, winners and losers, receive a trophy. those would be the ones that we're interested in.

jaychay - 900 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) a pagent would be ok im just not into the ones where people dress thier kids like little women doesnt look right. natural ones would be great. i live in the UK so i havent seen one apart from tv

krissyRYEcarpenter - 901 days ago i definitely agree with alreadygot1. i should've included the that there are different types of pageants. for those of you comparing it to the 'toddlers and tiaras' show, you quite often hear the mother say 'high glitz'. honestly, i find beauty pageants comparable to little league or putting your children's gymnastics or anything else with competitiveness in it. i know a lot of people have said they think it's a way of a mothers living vicariously through their children but i have to be honest, i know a lot of parents, moms and dads alike, who are even worse when it comes to athletics with their children.

However, she needs to understand that its ok not to always win! If you get her all psyched up to win and she comes in 2nd she may feel as if she has disappointed you. Don't raise her from the beginning thinking she has to ALWAYS win, or be better than the other girls, or the prettiest, etc. I think you can see what I'm talking about. As long as its just an activity that your daughter enjoys then go for it! If it is about you then I say don't do it.

alreadygot1 - 901 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I have never put my 3 year old in a pageant, but only because I cannot afford it. People who are so quick to judge childhood pageants do not know all the facts about the pageants. They are not just about beauty, they are also about talent, expression, and making new friends. There are multiple types of pageants. There are natural (no make up or fake anything) and three levels of glitz. The pageants that most associate with are the national high glitz. Those are just one type of pageant though! I think they are great IF the parents are supportive and remove their child if anything becomes a problem. With that said..... I beleive that about ALL sports or competitions. If it becomes a problem (head getting too big, putting down others skills, etc...) I would remove my child. About the small outfits and "shaking" on stage... My 3yr old is in dance (tap and ballet) and they do the SAME EXACT THING! People need to educate themselves before they are so quick to judge. I think that if you are OK with it and your husband? is too, then you should go for it. Their is always going to be someone to talk bad about it. (but, I am a supporter just like any other sport or competition)

KateBick - 902 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I agree with nutnut.

nutnut - 902 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) while i say i dont like to judge people, this is one thing i find repulsive. (no offense) there's just no reason to put make up, fake hair, fake teeth, fake nails, on a child under the age of 14! let alone dress them is seductive clothing or revealing clothing making them shake on stage for a bunch of grown adults. it really makes me sick. plus the obsessivness of the mothers...and some of those girls are so pressured they crack, or the girls end up being spoiled little brats. ive seen its all. sorry i dont mean to judge but this is one of those areas that im totally against. not to mention the ideas put into these girls heads on how they have to be a certain way, be the prettiest, the best. ugh im going to stop now bc if i dont i will keep going. sorry. i just dont like beauty pageants in general let alone for children. and its not bc im ugly by any means =P and i think my child is beautiful. i just dont feel the need to flaunt her like that. sorry. i mean not to offend anyone. its just my oppinion.

krissyRYEcarpenter - 902 days ago i agree. i mean, if my child was ever ever ever unhappy doing something i'd never force her to do it. they're supposed to be fun for the kids, not for the mothers to redo their childhoods.

mommy-ofa-boy - 902 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i dont think there is anything wrong with it for a hobby but i dont like when you see little grls who are unhappy doing but have too because of moms
