abnormal pap smear

im 5 months pregnant and my pap smear came back abnormal the doctor also told me ive got a u.t.i could this be why it came back abnormal?

lailasmommy - 900 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i wouldnt worry ive had abnormal paps they just re test one time she looked at my cervix under a scope cause she thought i might have cancer but i have hpv virus so that was what made it come back abnormal its also normal to have abnormal paps during pregnancy:)

happyforest - 902 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) abnormal paps are common in pregnancy. your cervix is going through lots of changes, which could be the problem. also your immune system is suppressed during pregnancy, which can allow abnormal cells to form. hpv also causes abnormal paps. i had abnormal paps for 3 years. the first one was just cell changes for no reason. the rest were all hpv related. all of my pregnancy paps were abnormal, then when i went back after i had him i was back to normal! they said the pregnancy likely kept them abnormal since my immune system was down and couldnt fight them off. idk if a uti would cause this, since uti is URINARY tract infection, and your cervix is not part of the urinary tract. but i dont know for sure

my.family - 902 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) possible, but usually hormones are to blame. i was told i had an abnormal pap after my son was born and they did something called a colposcopy, and it turned out the everyhing was prefectly fine. i wouldn't worry to much.
