Im going to be 39 weeks in a couple of days and my doctor is inducing me wednesday since i have been having contractions for a week and my cervix is stuck a 2, any advice i have never been induced b4, im so excited yet kinda scared?

nicnmicsmom - 898 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had an induction at 39 weeks with my baby girl approx 7 weeks ago. My previous pregnancies were natural. I can say this. Make it go slow. The slower, the more natural and better. Some nurses and docs will try to "hurry things along" by giving too much of the drug. DON"T do this. Also, don't be too quick to get an epidural, even if they offer it to you. Don't get it until you can't bear the pain anymore or around 5-6 cm dilated. They tried to speed things up with me after 6 or 7 hours and they gave me my epidural at 3 cm and basically, they rammed my baby's little head against my cervix and her heart rate slowed down to almost nothing because they MADE the contractions very hard but I wasn't dilated enough for her to fit through. So...SLOW is the key...slooow.

When the dr broke my water that made things move fast! I didn't want the pitocin just because its a more intense contraction and if you can dialate without the better.

Fourth4Faye - 899 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Being induced (to me) was as easy as going into labor naturally, but I was more prepared. What was used on me the first time was the pitocyn IV which was a shorter labor. The second time (3rd pregnancy) they used the prosta glandin pessary (sp?). I went home, and was awoken by contractions. Good luck! :)

nutnut - 899 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) make sure you get rest, and you eat before. like blondie i went into labor naturally but ended up being induced. i was up for two days, and they wouldnt let me have anything to eat. i had no energy and was so cranky bc i was starving. the epidural didnt work right on me so i cant say it was painless. the pitocin made my contractions so much worse than the natural ones imo. i would just be sure to eat, and get alot of rest prior. you will be fine. mine wasnt scheduled and it was long bc of all the waiting and deciding prior, etc etc. im hoping i dont need to be induced again. they also had to break my water. some dr.s will do it after the epidural, mine did it before after i had pitocin for awhile. it really hurt me more than the whole birthing process. some say it doesnt hurt, but i guess bad timing or something bc i was having a huge contraction. keep in mind, everyone experiences things differently, and im not trying to scare you with my weird story. i really think if the epidural wouldve worked it wouldve been alot better for me. if i were to go natural maybe i would not have an epidural, but being induced i would want the epidural. the hospital staff didnt ask me if i wanted anything until i said give me something. ask right away just incase bc every hospital does things differently.

blondie9504 - 899 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I went into labor naturally but ended up having to be induced because I stopped a 7 cm. I had the epidural and it was my BEST friend. Of courtse I was in labor 27 hrs lol. Really though, there isn't anything to be scared of. Just make sure you have something to entertain you (I watched TV and tried to ignore everyone else) I went from 7 to 10 in a matter of about an hour! Good luck!
