just recently my 4 month old has been screaming and stiffening when i go to feed her she will continue to cry for a few minutes after the bottle is gone. she only does this during certain feedings and i know its not because she is full she went 10 hours the other day without eating. does anyone have any idea`s on this, i have heard of acid reflux but she never spits up!

My dd behaved this way because she had gas. I know she was hungry, but her stomach cramped and she would either stiffen or draw her knees up to her belly in pain. My pediatrician suggested putting a couple of drops of Mylicon in each of her bottles. This seemed to help tremendously. Also, my husband walked her up and down the stairs and the bouncing seemed to soothe her tummy as well. Good luck!

silent reflux is where it comes up but not out so you wouldn't see spit up; aside from medication you can feed her a smaller amount more frequently and keep her upright (45 degrees at least) during and 1 hour after feedings

this is a far fetched stab in the dark, BUT have her checked for intussusception. I was an aussie first and got it at 20 years old! My surgeon said hed never seenit in anyone over 5 years old!! It means the small bowel twists into itself. in young ones the bowel is so soft and spagetti like it can intusscet and rectify itself.its worth a look into. hope shes ok, hon, good luck!

I would say Acid reflux too, my daughter had it and she used to act in similar ways when it was bothering her.

Could she be swollowing too much air which can cause alot of pain? Maybe you could burp her every 30 mls and see if that helps? I would also be concerned about her going 10 hrs without a feed at such a young age... I hope it all gets better.

why did she go 10 hours without eating? is she sick?
at that age she should be having a bottle no less than 3-4 hours

Is she bottle fed? She may be crying and not eating because sucking hurts to much and is ready for the next stage nipple ~ babies will refus eto eat if they have to suck to hard becuase the nipple stage is to small. (())

Oh...two ways to tell if it's acid reflux. 1. She really has no interest in her passy most of the time. And 2. After she's done eating, she'll stick her tongue out or push her tongue out and make a little face.....(that is per my doctor)

It's unusual that it would be just starting at this point. My bet is that she has acid reflux and now that she is drinking more, it's affecting her more. My 7 week old's doc put her on a liquid medication that we put in her bottle twice a day and that has made all the difference. It's like baby zantac. Otherwise, my suggestions would be to try a "gentle" formula where the proteins are partially broken down because it's easier on their tummies. OR it could be that she's getting super tired after her bottle and is having a hard time nodding off to sleep. Again, it's unusual for it to be just starting now that she's four months but it's possible it has to do with the larger feedings. My vote is for the acid reflux. Good luck. I know it's hard to hear them cry...
