my son still doesnt walk? Added: 890 days ago. Added by: m.e.a Section: General. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
my son is one year and one month old. he crawls, but only started when he was 11 months. he cruises on furniture maybe once every 2 weeks if he can be bothered. when ever i try to stand him up, and then let go, he falls face first, not on his bum, so i have to always be there to catch him. im a child care teacher, and i have never seen a child like this. im not sure if this is normal coz the kids im usually surrounded by walk by 1 year so this is all new to me. plz help!!

Er, sorry - I meant 13 months.. I typed 11 months because of the 1 year 1 months (11). No big deal.

boys, especially first born, are slower to gain those developmental skills than girls are and the range of "normal" is anywhere from 10 months to 18 months for taking those first steps. I'm a pediatric physical therapist. It sounds like you're encouraging him and he is cruising so those are good things. He'll come around.

Well if he's cruising that's a good sign.. He just sounds like he's a bit lazy and lacks a litle bit of common sense (falling on his face instead of hit butt) - as much common sense as an 11 month can possess anyway... Ask a proper health care individual to assess him if you are really worried, but I wouldn't be worried at 11 months - he sounds fine - he's probably just concentrating on other stuff instead of his walking..
