potty training a 3yr old boy

I have to use a small potty chair that makes music when child pee`s or poops cause my son won`t use adult potty at all. all I can get him to do on small potty chair is pee. my question how do I encourage him to poop and how will I know when he`s ready for the adult potty.

our1st.girl - 886 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I have 4 boys and I have learned that making a game out of everything works...my first we played sink the cherios sence they float he would pee and pee trying to sink them. My third loved having a good book and oreos I would read and he would eat..may sound gross but when you are desperate?.... My third we sang songs and did the poo poo dance with a treat after he was done. Now my fourth he is all about racing his dad goes in with him and they race to see who can pee the fastest they even say "on your mark get set GO" as for pooping he has to get totally necked and sit back wards on the potty...I never used a potty chair at home. I found that it created problems when we went places. I do have one for long trips in the car.

chiquiz8 - 887 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had the same problem with my son, he was almost 4 yrs old and did not wanted to use the adult restroom, for some reason kiddos are afraid of adult toilets, since they think they will fall down, I ask the doc about this and she suggested to buy a child's toilet seat, which I did at walmart, one of those cushion child seats for toilet,and wow, it worked wonders, at first my son was unsure, but once he tried it and saw he was not falling down the toilet he wanted to go all the time and now I was having trouble getting him out of the restroom, he liked it so much that he wanted to be seating in it even if he didnt had to go... I did the same thing with the rest of my kids and it has been working so good......Hope this helps let me know how it goes if you get the child's toilet seat.

jmschlotter - 887 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my son had the same problem he wouldn't poo in the potty at all finally one day he could tell he had to and said I gotta go poop mom so I said hurry and he did it now he's fully potty trained!!!!
