How much does your 9 wk old eat and weigh?

I am wondering about my daughter Lexi. She is 9 wks old and she only weighs 8 pounds and 8 ounces, she only eats about 3 ozs of Formula every 3-4 hours. She had surgery on her Intestines when she was 4 days old and so she cant eat a lot at a time. I am just wondering If I should be concerned with her weight gain at this point. I kinda wanted to compare with other moms whose babies are the same age. Lexi was born July 10th.

jumpingbean - 884 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I wouldn't worry as long as she is gaining weight that is the key. Everyone tells me my little girl is tiny, but she is right where she needs to be. She was born at 6lbs 2oz and at three months she weighs 11lbs 1oz. She was only eating 3 oz every 4 hours if that but now she is up to 6 oz every 4 hours.

xolblondieox - 884 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My preemies doubled their birth weights at their 2 months well visit. They were born at 5 lb 12 oz and 6 lb 5 oz and both were over 12lbs 8 weeks later. At 2 months they were taking 6-7 oz feedings 4 times per day, along with cereal.

mom2twogirls - 884 days ago Thanks for the replies, apparently Lexi seems to be smaller, she can wear some preemie clothes! She weighed 6 lbs 11 ozs at birth but she lost down to 5 pounds and 4 ozs during the stay in the NICU, so I guess she is doing ok for herself, we tried giving her 4 ozs and she would spit up quite a lot so we backed back down on it for the time being.

mother649808 - 884 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If she had surgery then that seems to be a good indicator as to why she is not able to eat a lot or gain a lot of weight. My babies were early and at 6 months one of them still only weighs 11 pounds. My pediatrician says they like to see them gain about a pound a month at minimum. As long as she is not losing any weight then I wouldn't worry. Toys r us and target sell a scale if you would like to keep up with her weight daily. If the docs aren't concerned then I wouldn't worry to much.

Tracey7 - 884 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Leon was 6lb 14oz at birth and tomro he wil be 9weeks he is somewhere between 13 and 14 lbs, an he takes anything between 4 and 7 oz every 3-4 hours.
