My baby is 2 1/2 weeks old now and breast-feeding is going great except it hurts really bad when she latches on, will this go away if so how long or will this continue for as long as im nursing?

luckywhite - 1341 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) after the initial ouch ouch it should not hurt as the milk flows (after 4 weeks it shouldnt hurt at all) you may need a little assistance with latch thats all. i found the folowing advice was good.. lay babys tummy across yours so you are tummy to tummy. hold babys head in one hand your own boob in the other. offer your breast bringing babys head towards your nipple and sorry to share but my nipples were HUGE so i had to pinch just behind them for my poor baby to get his mouth round, tickle their lip with your nipple they open wide and put as much in as poss. the pinching your nipple helps get more nipple in which makes for a good latch.

I never felt pain when breastfeeding and we have been doing it for 11 months now. The best way for my daughter to latch on when so young was to tickle her cheek with my nipple till she turned her head to it and then circle her mouth with it so that the baby opens their mouth. Put the baby's head to your breast - not the other way around!!! Good luck!!! xox

kristina89 - 1342 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it hurt me for a while too but you will get used to it and the pain does go away im breastfeeding and my baby is 4 months now today and they have cream for it tp help but dont give up it will stop hurting after about a month or so

vickiessecret - 1342 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) When I breastfed my daughter,it never hurt until I developed thrush and was cracked and bleeding. If the baby is latching on correctly it really shouldn't hurt. GoodLuck :)

mariettap - 1342 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I experienced the same with both children. You can examine your baby's latch to see if there's any tweaking you can do to make it more comfortable. For ex, mine usually latches on with her upper lip inverted and I have to sort of flip her lip out. If the baby doesn't take most of the areola into her mouth, then it's more likely to be uncomfortable. I do remember doing a lot of "toe curling" and deep breathing to get through the first 30 seconds or so though. :/

barunka05 - 1342 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it will go away. Don't give up.It took me about first 6 weeks and i'am still going strong with my 10 months old.I was using calcium cream and gel from lansinoh. Also try not to put soap on your niples while showering it makes it worst.Apply the gel after every breastfeeding session. My doc also told me that i can take tylenol for the pain.

megandgrace - 1342 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) For me the pain/uncomfortable feeling went away around 5 weeks or so. The sores were gone about 2 weeks in but it did take a while for the pain to go away or as i figured it, i just got so used to it, i didn't feel it anymore. At 2 1/2 weeks, you are still very early in with it, and they say that at around 6 weeks is when everything should be good.
