im pregnant w/ my 2nd but havent been to do doc yet due to insurance issues. im about 9 wks. i remember from my last pregnancy i couldn`t take the prenatal vits cuz they made me nauseous. does anyone know if i need a multi vitamin plus folic acid or just a vitamin w/ 100% daily folic acid?

Debra - 874 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) most important is the folic acid (at least 1mg). The rest of a multivit prenatal is for you. It contains the calcium you need so you don't get brittle bones and weak teeth, as well as iron to keep you from developing anemia. It is the iron that generally makes women nauseated. I used to feel more nauseated in the morning and so would take the prenatal with my dinner and it was smooth sailing after that. Flinstone vitamins are ok- like i said, most important for a developing baby is making sure you are getting enough folic acid from either your food or supplement.

3duenov26 - 874 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I suggest the Flintstones too. I'm on my 3rd pregnancy and have taken them with all three! (I've also gone to a different practice each time and they all approve!!)

meecob - 874 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Go to your local health food store and pick up an all natural prenatal vitamin. Make sure it says somewhere 'food base'. I'm 8 months PP and I still take mine :) They are great for skin, nails & hair :) If you have any questions, message me.

ashysmm1 - 874 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i couldn't take prenatal vitamins with my daughter so my doc also told me to take 2 flinstone vitamins and then i would also take a folic acid vitamin. This pregnacy i take my prenatal at night right before bed and i dont get sick.. good luck

m2b - 874 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) it depends on what time of day you take them. mine made me sick too. then i started to take them before bed and that was fine.

jacobbs-mommy - 874 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My doc said that if I couldnt stomach the prenatals then I could take two Flinstones vitamins.

HollieNJax - 874 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I think the recommended dose for a pregnant woman is 800 mcg. That's micrograms not milligrams. You could google it to check to make sure that's enough. As long as your taking something though it's should be OK

nutnut - 874 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my dr said to take children's flinstone vitamins. thats what i do. i take the gummy ones bc i have problems with my teeth and i cant chew the others. dr said the children's kind are really good.
