people keep telling me different things like `you can only breastfeed for 15 min each` or `you breastfeed as long as your baby likes` and I want to be=reastfeed but I don`t want to run out of milk.

I wouldn't worry about the time as long as it is at least 20 minutes at a time and my doctor told me always start on the breast that you finished with the last time because they need to get the hind milk and since they finished with that one before it won't have as much hind milk.

ps - even when your baby is eating your body is making more milk. you wont run out, and babies are so good at getting this milk, they suck out way more at one time than any breast pump ever could :)

my baby was a "gourmet" eater when very little. she would stay on the breast for 40 minutes (one side) - if she fell asleep i knew she had her fill, if i took her off and offered the other side she might take it and then i knew she was a little hungrier than usual. DOnt worry, your baby will let u know when shes hungry. let her stay on your breast for at least 20 mins in the start to make sure she's getting the hind milk as well as foremilk - some babies are simply slow eaters. if her boob is green, not enough hindmilk. Look for hunger signs, rooting, mving hands to mouth, smacking lips, and feed whenever you think shes hungry, in a few weeks you'll see her sort out a loose scheduale for herself. bf babies very rarely overeat. you know thier getting enough if they wet 8-12 diapers a day. congrats and you made a great choice to breastfeed!
