I ALWAYS know because my daughter starts to drool like a dog. Seriously... it is copious. She will also start to chew on anything she can get her hands on. They say fussiness... but I could never tell that way. The drool was a dead give away.

My first never showed any signs of teething. One day I peeked and found her teeth were just coming in, but no carrying on or extra drooling. I think most people say "ohhh, she's teething..." when a baby is fussy b/c they just don't know what else to say. They've been saying it to me for 8 mos, and this baby still has no teeth. Sometimes a baby drools or has a bad day. But eventually, she will get teeth, and then someone will tell me, "See? I told you she was teething!" ;)

This is what I've heard.. Baby's poop more when they teeth, they're cranky, drool a lot and can run a slight fever. My LO was only cranky when she cut her first 2 teeth. She's been pooping a little more than usual lately so maybe that means she's getting her top teeth in... I don't know but teething does affect a babies differently. Some have the basic symptoms but others don't. My LO drooled a TON for months but really didn't drool any more than normal when she actually cut her first teeth...

well usually they are very cranky and drool a LOT! they also bite on things more than usual and can run a fever. teething doesn't affect all babies the same however and some babies dont have any trouble with it.
