my daughter just turned 1 a week ago and she`s still drinking bottles before she sleeps. I offer her milk during the day but she wants her bottle sometimes. I feel bad taking it away but I know it needs to be done soon right?

wwatters18 - 865 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my lo likes to drink milk from my glass when we are eating or something but if i try to give her real milk in a bottle in substitute of her formula when she is tired and really wants a bottle, she will not take it, she will cry. so i just give her formula. im fine with her being on a bottle for a while longer. i still offer a sippy cup to her. i think im gonna start trying the half and half thing (half formula and half whole milk) with her in the day time and give her the formula in a bottle at night.

little-lil - 865 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My girl wants her bottle too, she knows when I change into a cup, she looks away and shake her head, so clever... I am going crazy myself. But I do wipe and brush her teeth after each meals, food or milk... I don't know when she'll get off the bottle, hopefully by 2 yrs. She's 15 month now, I try to do it by 18 month, good luck for me right? geez. Is normal to have milk before they sleep right? what do you mean by that? I give my girl her last feeding milk and do dvds with her and then put her to bed. What do you do after her milk does she goes to sleep right away??

mother649808 - 865 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) The biggest issue with bottles is their teeth. I would think as long as she is only taking the bottle once or twice a day and brush her teeth reguaraly she should be fine. I used to let my little girl have her milk bottle and then brush her teeth then bed. You don't want to just take it right now. She's still young and that could really mess with her emotions. Just be gradual but persistant. She will get the idea! Good luck!

kickboxerbaby - 865 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) As long as little one isn't taking the bottle into bed with her and you brush her teeth before she sleeps then it's really no big deal. As long as it's not a constant thing it could just be what she needs to comfort her and calm her for bed time. She will be ready before you know it.

megandgrace - 866 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My daughter is almost 21 months and still takes a night time bottle and a morning bottle because that is the only way she will drink milk. Its very hard for me to get her to drink her milk during the day. I have even resorted to mixing strawberry yogurt with her milk to make a shake that she can drink, its not bad for her to drink that but its a pain in the butt because she won't always drink it. I am giving myself till 2 to officially take the bottle away. There is so much going on with potty training and getting her off the binky too, that i am not so worried about the bottle right now. So you do what you feel is right, you know your child the best.

mdbabyno1 - 866 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I really wouldn't worry too much about it. I wasn't but just thought one day I would try giving it to her in a sippy cup and she had no issues with it. I really wasn't planning on taking it away because I really don't think it is that big of a deal

adkinsrus07 - 866 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Dont beat yourself up- I was in the same boat and I had to get to the point where I was "mean mommy" lol. We would try to transition by basically only offering him the sippy cup. My son finally realized he only had one option. I was very serious being that I worried about his teeth? I can tell you some mama's try for years- Ive seen 4 year olds with bottles. Patience is a virtue in this situation lol. Good luck...

lisab123 - 866 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My son had his bottle taken away around 2. My sil always said take that away and so did others. I was so sick of hearing it. I think you should do what you feel is right. If someone says anything ignore it because only you know your child no one else does and there 2 cents is nothing. Do what you feel is right. Personally I think one is still little and if night time or nap bottle soothes her so be it.

RobinG - 866 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) When my son was 15 months old many o the moms on that page had a baby who still had a bottle once a day. I removed the daytime bottles first and once that was set then the night time. Do what YOU feel is right because many will say be done now and personally I see no issue with bedtime bottle til 15 -18 mnths.
