Goats milk is a good alternative. And if you breastfed your son, almond milk is as close as possible to breast milk. My daughter is 1 next week and I will start her on goats milk. The human body is not meant to digest cow's milk - infant, child or adult! Be very careful of soy however - it does not have calcium so a calcium supplement is needed, something from seawood is used to thicken it so it can cause digestive problems and if you drink too much, it causes terrible gas pains. Also, Soy products are thougth to be the root cause of some thyroid disorders, reproductive system problems and allergy related symptoms, especially in individuals who have been using soy products since an early age.

I don't see a problem with it. Just think of the kids with milk allergies they can't have regular milk - so their usually on soy, rice, almond, ect. (milk).
