How long were you in labor with your first child? When did you go to the hospital?

wildbunch - 860 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I was in labor for 6 hours with my first. Pushed 3 times and he was out. Each labor since has gotten faster. My babies pretty much crawl out on their own.

kristina89 - 860 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i had contraction starting at 4am in the morning and at that time thet were about every hour apart maybe every half and hour then i woke up at about 9 am and i took a shower and my mucus plug came out while i was taking a shower and from then on the contractions were about every ten minutes apart we were having a bbq because it was memorial day i ate a little and then my boyfriends family told me not to eat because they thought i was going into labor and i was i wanted to be with my mom so i went to my moms house at about 4pm and then by 5 my contractions got close together like 5-7 min apart. then i called my doctor and he told me to call when they were 1-2 min apart so i did and by then it was like 5:30 then he told me to go to the hospital when i got there the contractions hurt to were they made me cry i was one day over my due date . but then theuy told me that i was 6 cm and then 5 min later i was 8cm then thewy told me they were going to brake my water then after that i went to 10cm in about 10 min i was pushing for about 45 min and i asked for medacine and they told me he was coming and i didnt have time for medacine so i had him all natural and i had my son at 6:57pm on may,25,09

shelly-b - 861 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Geez, u guys are lucky. i went to bed for the night at about 2am not thinkin i would go into labor that day, even though i was already a wk over due, n was woke up at 5 with contractions about 10-15min apart, but strong enough i couldn't sleep through them. they just felt like strong period cramps. so i decided to get up n tell my bf to come home cuz he was workin about 2hrs away. he hadn't even made it to work yet lol. he was about 45min up the road n his mom went to get him at the gas station where the person he rides to work with drops him off. so i got a bath n the mean time. his mom had his gma come over eventhough i insisted i was fine, they musta thought i my little one was gna fly out or somethin lol. so after my bf got back, we all went to bobevans cuz i knew i wouldn't be allowed to eat after i was admitted. while i was eating they got way closer together, bout every 3-5min, but not too painful. so i decided we should go to the hospital to get checked out cuz my family has a history of very fast labors. so i went in n they took a urine sample n i musta had to pee cuz the contractions slowed back down to like every 7-10min. i was dialated to 2 so they told me to go walk for an hr and come back. well while i was walking they started to pick up again to like every 5min n got pretty intense n when i peed i would get alot of bloody show. so i decided to go back to the hospital after a little over an hr n walk there just incase. well by the time i got to the hospital i was pretty uncomfortable. the contractions my me feel like i had to poop a REALLY big one. my pain had move to my back and tailbone mostly and my contractions were like every 3-5min. so instead of walking we went right back up. by this time it was about 12pm. i was still 2-3cm but they were way more frequent and intense. they told me they were gna send me to walk more so i was getting ready to go then they came in and told me they were gna break my water and start pitocin, which i didn't want either cuz i really wanted a natural labor. they finally pretty much wouldn't give in so i let them break my water but not start pitocin. that really did it. my contractions were like every 3min, which gave me like 30sec to rest inbetween. after a couple hrs of this i was exausted. the pain n pressure was so bad n my tailbone n but n i always felt like i had to pee, no matter how my times i went. so at 3, i gave in and asked for the epidural after turning down the nubain earlier. well, the anesthesiologist was in surgery, so by 4 i asked for the nubain cuz i was sick of waiting and hurting. all it did was make me fall asleep for the short time between contractions so i didn't have time to prepare for them. i would wake up when it was really starting to hurt like "what the hell" lol then i'd remember i was in labor. by 5, the anesthesiologist was finally there. i was dialated to 5cm. i was sooo tired, i had been up for 12hrs already on like 2hrs of sleep. after my epi, i could still feel the pressure in my tailbone so bad i still coudn't sleep, so about an hour after asking for more meds in my epi, she came back and gave me more. FINALLY, complete pain releif. so i slept for an hr or 2. it's weird but the few hrs b4 my epi r like a blurr, theres alot i don't remember, i think cuz the pain was so bad n i was so tired. they ended up putting fluid back into me for the duration of my labor, putting the internal heart monitor on little paytons scalp, the pressure monitor in me and a foley catheter, so i had tones of tubes n wires coming out of me. they started pitocin sometime after my epi, not sure when. by 1:30am i was fully dilated except a little tiny lip of cervix in the front n she had turned an hr or 2 before that. the dr decided to have me start pushing to see if the last of the cervix would go away, n after like an hr of trying everything it wouldn't. she even had her hand in me trying to push it away but it kept coming back. thank god i had the epidural lol. so at 2 they decided n i fully agreed it was time for a c-section. i was exausted n didn't feel to good. my temp kept going up n my pain was coming back. by 2:30 my little girl was here! n before i was done being stitched up, my pain was coming back. i could move my toes by this time too. it was hurting when they were stitching me up n squeezing my uterus. by the time i got out of surgery i was freeeezing, shaking like crazy, hurting, and soo tired. i could even move my legs by they time i got in my room, which i went straight to. my temp was 101 by then. turns out i had an infection in my placenta. so i got put in my postpartum room n asked for some tylenol for my fever n got some iv pain meds, n by the time the epi wore off completely, i felt like a new person. no pain at all unless i moved n my fever was gone. it was weird cuz most ppl say u start hurting after the epi wears off but i hurt while it was wearing off. soooo, sorry so long! but to answer u'r ?, i was in labor for 23hrs.

jumpingbean - 861 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I went in because I didn't feel my baby move her heart beat was 190 so they decided to induce me, after being induced the week before. They broke my water at 12am induced me at 2 am and I had her at 7:50am after only 5 minutes of pushing

Mitzy82 - 861 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I was in labour for 36 hours but unaware that my insanely sore back was a strong indication of labour until itching started. My liver and kidney shut down this is rare but something to be mindful of. The labour was really only intense for 8 of those hours

vickiessecret - 861 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Well I went in for my weekly non stress test expecting to be going home and my blood pressure was crazy, so they told me I was going to be induced. I was admitted at noon, and they checked me before they gave me anything and I was 3cm and 80% effaced on my own. They started my pitocin at 3pm by 10:30 I was 10cm and ready to push. I pushed for 1hour and 40mins and had my little girl at 12:10 am. So mine was roughly 9 1/2 hours, which is actually good for a first pregnancy. Good Luck

jamiespaulding - 861 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I had contactions for about 22 hours but they were only 15-20 minutes apart, they actually werent that bad I tried relax and sleep between them. Then I had about 3-4 hours of hard contactions that were 4-7 minutes apart. My husband and I used alot of the information we learned in our child birthing class to get through. Because the doctor always says wait till you are about 5 minutes apart to go to the hospital I waited till I couldnt take the pain anymore. When I was checked into the triage area I was 6 cm already, so aparently all those hours helped me progress. By the time I got into the delivery room (only about 2 hours after I was checked in) I was 8 cm. I pushed for about 1 hour and my little Payton Rose arrived.

MsModernBeauty - 861 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I was in labour for 15 hours, but the first ten were fine, I just stayed home, cleaned, had a bath, watched tv, tried to sleep. 7 hours into it I called my hubby home from work to sit with me cause I needed a hand to hold. We watch a movie on our bed, he made me some dinner, and gave me a present :) We went to the hospital 10 hours into it, contrations were 3 minutes apart and intense. Had my water broken after 2 hours at the hospital, was fully dialated 2.5 hours later, pushed for 20 minutes, and she was out. No drugs, no tearing, no crying (till I saw her!), Just 5 hours in labour at the hospital, and myself in a dark quiet corner of my mind, lol - it was perfect! Good luck to you!

NinaBo-Bina - 861 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) literally 18 hours with my 1st and went to hospital waaaay too soon. My 2nd was only 4 hours. You should call your doc and let her know the minutes between contractions before rushing oof. She will let you know when it's time. Good Luck!

Hind Alsuwaidi - 861 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) 5 hours .. and i went to the hospital when i had contractions and i could barely walk lol i was only 2cm dilated, they broke my water at the hospital, 5 hours later i had my precious baby boy.... but you know, it all depends on ur body, u might have a longer labor than i did or maybe a shorter one.... good luck and let us know how it goes :)

sazauk - 861 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Labour including delivery was 3 and half hours. I went to hospital after 1 and half hours contractions were very intense and every 2-3 minutes then.
