Hello, I am 29 weeks pregnant and have just been diagnosed with Bells Palsy. Has anyone else had this during pregancy? Any advice?

Poor you! That totally sucks :( I had the same thing with my last pregnancy, right around 27 weeks. My whole right side of my face (tongue and taste buds included) was numb. I found out that it's unknown what actually causes it, but they suspect it's a virus. It dispraportionately (sp?) strikes pregnant women, and if you've ever had mononucleosis, you're at a higher risk. Have they started you on anti-virals yet? I also took prednisone (a steroid), and had to get a prednisone shot when I was in labour too. The good news is: it generally clears up in about 6 weeks, and it's not dangerous to your baby. My son was born healthy and happy, and I don't have any serious nerve damage in my face. In pictures, I notice a difference, but no one else does. Good luck, and if you need to talk, let me know- I've totally been there!
