sanitizing kids toys Added: 856 days ago. Added by: kplum Section: General. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
What product do you use to sanitize a baby`s toys? And how often do you sanitize? Do I only need to sanitize after I buy the toy? I know the obvious, like if they are on a dirty floor, etc. But, do you sanitize them on a schedule, like every 2 weeks or soemthing? TIA!

I dont clean my kids toys with lysol spray... they both put the toys in their mouth... so too me its like they are just eating the lysol off.. not good. I use the clorox anywhere spray.. it safe for children and pets. the instructions tell u not to rinse it off but I do any way after a few minutes

Items that can be soaked and rinsed properly will do fine soaking them in clorox bleach and then thoroughly rinsed. Besides that I use Lysol disenfectant with flu virus killer

No offense, but I would rather have my child exposed to everyday, household germs (like they are going to be anyways, regardless of what you do) than exposed to the chemicals in clorox and lysol! I wash my child's toys in hot soapy water if they are dirty. She is perfectly healthy with an immune system built to last!

I only clean toys I get second hand. I never clean toys I just took out of packages. Also I never clean them weekly like some people...I never knew you were supposed to (why do you....I mean they are in the house...) To each there own.

Aren't there a lot of chemicals in clorox wipes? That would be a concern of mine if I were using them daily.

I'm about 4 weeks away from my due date and in the next week or so I have to start getting all of that stuff done (sanitizing toys, sterilizing bottles, washing baby clothes in baby detergent, etc.!). I am going to sanitize them all now but after that I will probably just use the Clorox wipes like the other woman said below. However, I don't think ill do it on a daily basis. Ill probably do it if it needs it (like you said if it drops on the ground or something) but besides for that probably like once a week.

Use I think it is a 1/4 cup of clorox bleach for every 1 gal of water. I would definitely sanitize after I buy. I would think every few weeks if it is your only child playing with the toy. If there are multiple children using the toy then I would do it more often. When the child is sick I would sanitize more to keep down the germs. On a daily basis I would just spray everything down with Lysol and use clorox clean-up wipes. Hope this helps!!!
