Have any of you had problems w. the shot or any BC of that matter causing extreme Bitchiness/severe mood swings? My fiance is convinced this is the reason our relationship is falling apart....

I totally agree with MTNWOMAN! The shot is evil, I have taken it for years because I didn't want any accidents. I quit taking it to have a baby and then as soon as I delivered her, I took the shot again because I wanted to be protected until I went for my checkup and to get an IUD. I get really moody on the shot and I gain so much weight and no matter what I do it wont go away. I went and got the Mirena before my shot ran out and I've already lost 7 lbs and feel great. Plus my SO is still in one piece too lol. He understood that I wasn't trying to be mean to him but I really just couldn't help it. He told me I was bipolar lol. After the shot went away we got along so great it was scary. Now that my daughter is here we get along great too but the shot was just a precautionary incase we didn't wait the 6 weeks we were suppose to. I'm liking this Mirena, I was a little worried that it wouldn't be for me but so far it's been great. My SO has to have hernia surgery so he's going to get a vasectomy too at the same time so we don't have to worry about bc all together. Good luck!

The DEPO shot was horrible for me and my SO! I know that it made me crazier than when I was pregnant! Sort of like meecob said, there was definitly a differnce in how I acted on and off the shot, but for me, I knew I was being unreasonable, but just couldn't stop myself. DH didn't really have to point anything out for me to realize it. lol! BUT, DH did know that I was not my normal self and was really understanding with me to a point as well. He loves me dearly and wouldn't let something like that, as evil as I was at times, come between us and tear us apart. The big picture is much more important!

RobinG's answer is great. I was taking a no estrogen pill after having my daughter..I took it for about three months until SO told me that I had changed drastically. He was very calm and gave me specific details of things I had said and done to him. I felt terrible once I realized that that wasn't anything I'd do previously. I went off the pill and I'm so much happier :) But...you do need to consider that everyone has different reactions. Good luck

It depends, I had the shot and hated it!!! I'd never recommend it but that said it doesnt mean it could effect you the same. What you need to ask yourself is if the things that are upsetting you are they things you yourself cant understand why they are bothering you or are they things you feel justified in? If you feel justified then the shot may not have anything to do with it and it is him just looking for an excuse and not willing to take responsibility for his own actions. Relationships are a two way street and you both may have a part in the concerns, it is esp be harder when a baby is born. So if you feel there is no reason for you to be upset and you yourself feel your mood and temperment is unjustified it is possible.
