well we usually make ziti, sausage and peppers, potato and macaroni salad, rolls from the baker, and sometimes a cold cut platter, and or veggie platter, or both. as far as not wanting to serve icecream go with sherbert or italian ices. you could also do a fruit salad or fruit cups to par with like an angel food cake or some sort of lighter cake. =)

You can put cake batter in ice cream cones and bake them and either decorate them your self or have your guests decorate their own. This is what I was going to do instead of having ice cream but decided I wanted to do as little as possible for the party lol.

Hi, for my sons first birthday we had fairy bread, party pies, sausage rolls, mini hot dogs maybe if your son can't have ice cream try jelly with chocolate frog in it. And for adults maybe just get some pizza in.

order pizzas or pasta and salad, and I'd still get ice cream for the guests with their cake:)

We always have some cake and icecream (the guests love icecream too so even if your son cant have it, they may love it :) ) I cook a paste casserole of some sort, like mac and cheese, baked ziti, nice salad, fresh bread, a meat of some sort, ham usually, beans, lots of things. Like a buffet :) Here is a great site with unique cake and baked good stuff!! http://www.bakerella.com/ I plan ot make the cake pops for my sons 2nd :)
