Just wondering who is getting their child the vaccine? I have a 8 month old baby and am so torn on what to do. I have talked to nurses, NP`s etc and everyone is split. Some pedi`s even say they wouldn`t give it to their child while others are sayign absolutely! I know the media can hype things up and have a lot of false info but I just don`t know what to do. So what is everyone else doing or what is your pedi reccomedning?? Thanks!

xbabybeanx - 144 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I'm not having it and neither are my kids

Debra - 145 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I will be vaccinated. I'll also have my son vaccinated. But I'm an RN and work with the public and the public is sick with H1N1. Do keep in mind when making your decision that you do have a much higher risk of catching this virus. It replicates strangely in pregnant women. I have a pregnant women (32weeks) on my unit right now with swine flu and she's sick. No other previous health issues other than she is a mother. Consider that many of you have previously been vaccinated. Diseases such as small pox and polio have been practically eradicated through vaccination. Your chances of dying in a car crash are 1/100 Your chances of being struck by lightening are 1/3000 Your chances of developing Gillian Barre from the flu vaccine are 1/1,000,000 The 1918 flu killed an estimated 50,000 people and was an H1N1 strain so make your decisions, but do bear in mind that vaccines have not been proven to cause autism. There have been more links of autism to too much tv watching in the baby/toddler crowd and poor diet: aka. no fruits and veggies.

There's already so much controversy over regular vaccinations that people have studied. For this one to be so new and no one to know how this will affect our children in the future is a great concern to me. I have 4 children, 2 of which are premature twins and I won't even allow the regular flu shot. I'm a strong minded person though! Good luck!

mariettap - 145 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) did it yesterday. As for mercury concerns, there's more mercury in a small can of tuna, and I'm ok with eating tuna every so often. I'm comfortable with the shot, which is a dead virus, but I'm not thrilled about the nasal mist with a live virus.

sweetbabyboy - 145 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I am not having it nor are my babies.

shan1222 - 145 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) im also torn.. my doc said that the swine flu vaccine is usually in the regular seasonal flu shot, but it didntcome out in time this year to put it in so thats why there are two separate shots.. but it is usually in the regular flu shot

canadababy - 145 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I will be giving my 8month old the vaccine later this week. I would never doing anything to hurt my daughter and I believe the vaccine is safe and the H1N1 flu is very dangerous for babies.

charlihadley - 145 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i will Not be giving my 21 month old the vaccine....

vickiessecret - 145 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I'm pregnant and I'm not getting it and my daughter is not getting it either. Her peditracian...who was my peditrician when I was a baby...doesn't like the idea, he said it's too new and there's not enough know about it. So he's no recommending it. If we wanted it he'd give it, but he's not pushing people to have it. It freaks me out, they developed it sooo fast and large amounts, they don't know what can happen.. The problem is--they just don't know... So it basically every dr has their own opinion..but there's nothing know about it.. So I'd rather not have me or my child injected with something that can cause problems years down the road. Good Luck with your decision.

kaylabranscum - 145 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I am 15 weeks pregnant and got the vaccine yesterday, and my son who is 10 months will be getting it next week. The vaccine is NOT dangerous. this is not a new vaccine, it is a new strain but not a new vaccine. The risks of not getting the vaccines are far worse than those of getting it. there are pregnant women and children dieing left and right. Why would someone want to risk that? I know i dont want to risk that with my children.

juels101 - 145 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I won't be getting it, or having my kids get it. The levels of mercury in the vaccine is higher than usual and it can has other serious risks. The vaccine is more dangerous than the actual flu, not risking it! That is the conclusion I've come to after researching it
