has anyone gotten their LO`s the H1N1 vaccine? Added: 841 days ago. Added by: luvmyboy Section: General. Status: This question is Closed. (Questions will be closed after 10 days.)
I have been going back and forth about getting my son the H1N1 vaccine. I actually think we should, my husband however thinks that we should not. Has anyone given their LO the vaccine and did they have any side effects? and is it given in shot form instead of nasal mist with babies under 2? any replies greatly appreciated! I don`t know what to do..

i dont know what to do either..im skeptical about the H1N1, but i wonder about the regular flu shot..do you actually still get the flu if you get the shot?? i wanted to do research on the internet but am always told not to believe everything you read on there..its confusing and scary trying to make this decision. i have 4kids..3 yr old, 11, 13 and 15

oh, and my son had the vaccine by needle, children under 10 years of age get 2 half doses, 21 days between them. When we went to the clinic, they did not even discuss the nasal inhaler, they just prepped the needle:)

My 8.5 month old had his today, and he is fine, happy, and healthy. I too was quite undecided about the vaccine, after doing so much research, I concluded that the vaccine was safe, approved by the gov't and ministry of health, and I did not want to risk my son getting really sick, I would of felt tremendous guilt if I did not make the best decision for him. My husband and I also got vaccinated. Just do what your gut is telling you, best of luck:)

My children(6yo and 1 yr) got the seasonal flu shot yesterday, they have been fine no issues. They were out of the H1N1 shot, but I am highly considering getting the shot for them. The doc said that the shot is made exactly same as the seasonal flu shot just a different virus in it. She said that if the H1N1 virus had started spreading early than April last year, it would have been added to the seasonal flu shot. The seasonal flu shot is made up of what scientist believe will be the virus going around the next season, so if they would have seen the H1N1 coming they would have added it to the seasonal flu one. Hearing that helped relieved my concerns. My DD is 13 months old but with her 6 yo brother bringing home germs from school worry me. She got really sick last Feb at 5 months old mostly likely from germs brought in. All you need to do is what you think is best for you and your family.

We have decided that we are not getting that shot for our daughter. Her peditrician said it's too new and not enough testing has been done. She did get the regular flu shot. I know the shot takes 2-4 weeks to go into affect. We're concerned what may happen a few years down the road if we were to give it to her. The thing is noone knows what will happen..and that scares me. I'm pregnant and I'm not getting it either. Good Luck with your decision.
