My baby was born at 36 weeks. She is just 1 week old and sleeps constantly. She barely cries. My son was not like this. Is it normal?

louisec - 139 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If she is feeding and by the 10th day,she is gaining weight, then you probably have a quiet baby, but im not sure whether you have a system where you are with a health visitor coming to your home checking weight etc. If not have her weighed at your doctors and make sure this is the case. Sometimes there are health problems associated with no weight gain, and having a sleepy baby. My son lost 15 % of his body weight by day 16. He slept 22/24 hrs. He had a severe urine infection which could have deteriorated rapidly. Im not saying your baby has anything wrong with her, its just best to check these things out. your doctor will not be annoyed. Does she have to be woken up for a feed, at every feed? if so you should get her checked out just to be on the safe side.

shelly-b - 141 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my LO goes through spurts where all she does is eat n sleep for a few days, then she'll go back to bein awake for longer periods. she's almost 3months. she hardly ever cries unless she's sleepy, then she gets fussy. even when she's hungry she doesn't cry, she just chatters n makes noise. i am really lucky i got such a good baby, i like to credit it to the fact that i've never let her cry, as soon as she needs something i tend to her:) i think she knows she doesn't hafta cry to get what she wants. all she hasta do is make noise. i def. don't think u can spoil a baby, u can a toddler, not a baby though. enjoy u'r peace an quiet while it lasts! she'll be awake longer before u know it! long as she's gaining weight n poopin n plenty of wet diapers dont worry!

angie2008 - 141 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) consider your self blessed. my dd was like this and she was born past her due date, she was and still is just tired and sleeps beautifully. She is 11 months old now. Don't worry.

Cindie - 142 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) every baby is different. my first son did that for a while, he was born at 35w5d

Jesmikcamchance - 142 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I was told that when babies are way sleepy it means they are going through a growth spurt. Since he was born a little early he didn't have as much time to grow inside. And, then there is the every baby is different scenerio.

lucijas77 - 142 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) my dd was like that too for first month or two.it changed after that.

KorisMamaxo - 142 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) yes. its normal. my baby was only 4 days early. weighed 6lbs 2oz. and all she did was sleep and eat and poop. haha. everythings fine. every baby is different.

vickiessecret - 142 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My niece and nephew were born at 35 weeks and they just ate and slept. Being premature I think they need more sleep..most babies in general when their that little sleep most of the time. I wouldn't worry as long as she is eating and going to the bathroom. Congrats on the birth of your daughter :)

my.family - 142 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i know this sounds kindda silly, but i had my son at 34wks, and when he was in the NICU he hardly cried, just a lil squeak here and there, and then the full term baby next him, screamed and cried, and i swear my ears were bleeding. The NICU nurse said, don't worry in about 3-4wks your son will be screaming too, just like a full term baby (because in 3-4wks he would have been full term if he would have stayed put)and eventually by the time he would have been full term-the screams started...but for now, just enjoy the peacefulness.

mariettap - 142 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) If she's leaving lots of wet and dirty diapers, then yes, you have a peaceful baby who is doing what newborns do best: sleep. Enjoy the peace!
