toni24081988 - 19 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) i am 40 weeks pregnant tomorrow and i have tried everything. Pinapple, rasebrry leaf tea, long walks and sex and nothing has happened. i WOULDNT try caster oil or spicy food cos the might make you have a messy birth. i do recommend the rasberry leaf tea because it makes your cantractions stronger and work better.

4boys..1stgirlontheway - 20 days ago thats awesome thanks for all the ideas guys ill let yas know how it works out for me xx

She did recommend trying raspberry leaf tea, evening primrose oil, and sex. Also gave me the thumbs up to try spicy foods but she didn't weigh in on whether that really works or not!

zoe - 21 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) hey i had my baby girl at 38 weeks and i tried everything to get my labour started because like you i wasnt a big pregnancy person just wanted it over and to have my girl, nothing seemed to work but that didnt surprise me as i hadent had any contrations not even braxton hicks i didnt think she was gonna show any time soon but my friend said she tried lavander drops in her bath lavender air freshners shower gels, washing powder etc and she had her baby girl 2 days later her mum told her lavender was good for briging on labour (i had never heard of this one)i thought i may aswell give it a go no harm n trying and 2 days into my lavander overdose lol as i was sleeping at 7.30 in the morning my waters broke i had her early the next morning you can only try good luck even if it doesnt work she will be here soon!!

RobinG - 21 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Best advice is to wait it out :) You still arent even due yet ~ Things to help start labor in my opinion only work if your body is about to start on its own or has already ~ sorry, I know it is uncomfortable but a failed self induction could lead to a section so waiting for nature to take its course is the best :) If self inductions really worked, there wouldnt ever be over due babies ~ ((hugs))

sweetbabyboy - 21 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) sex put me into labour!!!! had sex at 10pm, mucous plug fell out at 1:30am and contractions started st 2am. good luck!!!

xbabybeanx - 21 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I personally think that none of them work in all honesty. I think for the people that say it do its just coincidence and that it would have happened without the method anyways. My first was 12 days late and my second was 10 days early born by c-section because she was breech. I can understand the frustration your going through and the uncomfortable feelings now but i honestly believe babies come when they're good and ready. I have a friend that had her first 4 weeks early and we were all pretty sure that that second would be early but he ended up being 11 days late and she tried everything. Good luck tho because anything is worth a try xxx

alexaliff - 21 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) I tried everything and was induced 2 weeks late. Sex gave me contractions and so did nipple stimulation but I still didn't go into labour : ( They may work for you though!

xXxEXPLOxXx - 21 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Back in the 50s/60s/70s, castor oil was commonly used to induce labour --mixed with juice or something, 'cause it tastes awful. It's something that requires medical guidelines (midwives used to explain to the older generation HOW to use it, not just tell them "take castor oil") --too much will give you an awful upset tummy. Theres lots of things about inducing labour written all over the internet, but nothing is backed by science. Although, allot can be said for old wives tales!! :-D

anna85 - 21 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Obviously i am pregnant with my first but i did some reading hehehe.....Walking, the pressure of your baby's head pressing down on the cervix from the inside stimulates the release of oxytocin, hopefully bringing on labour. Also, just being upright gets the forces of gravity working for you, encouraging the baby to move down onto the cervix. Sex as a means of getting labour started is thought to work in three ways: firstly orgasm may help to stimulate the uterus into action; secondly, sex can trigger the release of oxytocin, the "contraction" hormone; thirdly, semen contains a high concentration of prostaglandins which may help to ripen, or soften, the neck of the womb (cervix) ready for it to dilate when labour starts. Raspberry leaf tea. You can get this from Health Food stores or Herbal Suppliers, or Spicy food is often suggested as a means of bringing on labour. There are no scientific theories relating to this, but it may be that it stimulates the gut and bowel and so encourages the uterus to get going by that means. Wow So many ways huh? Let me know which one works :) xxoo

4boys..1stgirlontheway - 21 days ago thanks for the advice guys :) sorry if i seem like im whinging i have literally been pregnant for a yr now i fell preg last nov and lost my bub in feb then fell preg again straight away so im a little overdone :( oh and im told shes huge so kind of keen to get her out b4 she gets to huge lol. but ill keep ur ideas in mind thanks again :)

heidismummy - 21 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) castor oil is safe to take. like anything, if you go daft and drink two bottles and take too much, it will probably make you throw up. if you take half a bottle when you are FULL TERM, then you will be absolutely fine. don't listen to all the horror stories! there is always a horror story about everything!! in the olden days they used to use castor oil to induce women in hospitals, so it is safe to take. i took it when i was 41 weeks and a few days though, so i knew in my head that baby was most defintately ready to be born! so i would say try to wait till you get to 40 weeks and then think about it. i think the problem is that we get so impatient and sometimes think more about how fed up we are rather than about the baby. best of luck!

Hebelboy2 - 21 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) My doctor made a joke once to me that sex would get stuff started, and a mid-wife on a Baby Story said she suggested Castor Oil. I don't like the sound of that though... It makes you terribly sick and the vomiting is what induces the labor. But I guess if you are really desperate... I personally started walking (like mommieliz)at 34 weeks and at 36 I was dialated to a 3 and 50% effaced. Either way good luck!

mommieliz - 21 days ago Rating: 0 (0 votes) Well with my son I walked around the block about 4 times i came home and lost my mucous plug then walked a little more came home to rest and my water broke within a hour I was 38 weeks when i had him ...... hope that helps Good Luck With Your lil Angel Keep us Posted....
